MyTraffic X or Ultimate Traffic X?

Recommended Posts

I've been tweaking my PC and cleaning stuff up. I have My Traffic X as an AI generator, and realized that all this time I have not updated it- tried to do so and it doesn't appear to update, so will go take a look at their forum. But it got me thinking- are there any opinions about UTX as compared with MTX that anybody would like to share? I'm wondering id I might just start new with a new AI program if the difference would be a positive one.

Thanks, Bruce.

I've used myTraffic x as my AI traffic generator for quite some time. Then I took the plunge and changed to UT2.

Well, it has been a pleasant surprise. Easy install, fast loading, nice models and no noticeable impact on fps.

Both programs deliver quality but for me, the faster load time of FSX since changing to UT2, is a big plus.

Ultimate Traffic 2 is awesome! I have used it for the past few months and it is truly one of the best purchases I have ever made for my FSX installation.

Thanks Ben. Looking at the AVSIM reviews, that was the conclusion I too was coming to, but also wondered what experiences were like in this forum. Appreciate the reply.

I would go with UT2. I went with MTX 5.4 Pro.... the models are less attractive than UT2. The interface is terrible compared to UT2. I really don't know why I went with MTX to be honest... I think MTX is better suited for non USA flying.

I agree with Ryan Butterworth . I have just recently purchase UT2 an i have to saw fsx loads way faster an the models for ut2 are way more better. No change in fps when using UT2

mr340 and Ryan,

Thanks for checking in with your thoughts. 5 out of 5 for UTX, seems like a good way to go.

Thanks everyone, Bruce.

Hehe, I'm also in the fence between the 2. I sent a question email to Flight1, so hopefully by Monday I'll have one decided on. B)

MTX has an absolutely terrible user interface. It also makes FS take 10x longer to load and I'm sure it is responsible for the series of massive stutters I get every so often while cruising as it loads all then new airplane models/routes/states in one hit as you cross an AI boundary (seems to get worse the higher I set traffic). Apparently UT2 doesn't have this issue as it injects traffic methodically at a sensible rate. It also doesn't b a s t a r dize the program's loading time. The models themselves aren't all that impressive either.

Haven't tried UT2 but I am sorely tempted after reading this thread.

I have been using MTX 5.3 and 5.4 for a year now and I'm extremely happy with it. Models are quite good enough IMO (and improved with every release 5.4 being really nice) and it has some advantages over UT2 too that I know. First and most important is that MTX has military and cargo traffic, which is important factor if you are especially flying in remote destinations where these operators are major players. Two, MTX uses SDK traffic tools, so it is pretty much guaranteed, that there won't be any problems with any other addons, which have something to do with traffic. And yes, MTX UI looks pretty awful but you really don't need to use that but when setting up the program. In fact, I probably haven't used UI since I purchased 5.4. Because MTX is based on SDK tools, you mainly just use FSX sliders to adjust the traffic and that's it. Otherwise, setting up the MTX is a breeze. Third, UT2 spawns aircraft to the airport just 20 mins before the flight starts. This means that even the biggest hubs are completely empty during the night hours when planes aren't departing. MTX has aircraft on the gound around the clock, although fewer than during the busy daytime hours. This is one factor that can possibly kill or create an illusion of living world.

I don't have UT2 so of course I can't say that MTX is definitely worse or better. I'm just extremely happy with MTX and I have no reason to search an alternative. Yes, loading times are bit longer, because it is based on bgls (which has also advantages, as I mentioned), but it is no brainer for me: half a minute here or there don't mean squat if I spend an hour flying. Also, some people have reported that the way UT2 is injecting traffic causes short pauses here and there during the flight, which I don't experience at all with MTX. Beats me, but I think both are good and can be also used together. So, IMO there are many positive things in MTX that at least for me are important. I was once doing the same thinking, decided to go with MTX and have no regrets what so ever.

Having never used MTX, I can't comment on it. However, I've been a happy UT2 user for quite some time now.

I switched to UT2 from JustFlight Traffic X a couple of years ago because of the way UT2 injects traffic, thus avoiding the FSX traffic method entirely. I found that on my computer, I could thus have far more AI traffic with UT2. In addition (and I don't know whether this is true or whether it is only my impression), it seemed to me that UT2 had more AI models than Traffic X.

In any case, I've been very happy with UT2 and haven't even been tempted to try any other similar program such as MTX.

My Traffic X all the way.

The programm just keeps improving.

The latest version has great aircraft models ( DX9 and DX10 ).

There are tajht many features that it looks overwhelming at first.

I use it icw My Traffic Live.

That implements real schedules for all major airliners around the world.

The use is also very easy.

Only choose for MyTraffic Live schedules.

Than before flying download the latest real traffic data.

If there is a known delay for an aircraft than MT Live will have that delay also.

IMho it can't get any better than that.

The other good thing about UT2 is the amount of repaints out there as a lot of the models are done by the the likes of AIAardvark, The Fruit Stand and DJC. UT2 also shares some of the same models as MTX.

The only downside i have found to UT2 is that i do get the odd stutter caused by simconnect injecting traffic
