OMG, for some reason, full-screen runs at lower resolution...

Recommended Posts

This is driving me nuts! Everytime I switch to full-screen, FSX runs at a lower resolution with hardly any AA and AF. The menu letters are almost unreadable.

I have used the beta and WHQL drivers for nvidia and still the same problem.

Anyone has experienced this? I followed Word Not Allowed's guide to the T before and never had this issue.

Delete the fsx.cfg and let FSX built a new one.

The first time you run FSX go into the Menu and choose the correct resolution for Fullscreen.

That should work.

You are running three monitors.

Check you are setting the resolution, AA and filtering for each one in FSX settings. ???

Thanks for the responses, guys, but rebuilding the fsx.cfg didn't work.

BTW, I'm not on 3 monitors. Now I'm using a 46" Sony Bravia KDL-46EX400 LCD TV via HDMI.

Native resolution is 1920x1080 and in window mode, it works perfectly but as soon as I go full screen, it goes to a lower resolution.

This is driving me nuts!

- Grammar *censored*, this was sent from my phone.

Did fullscreen work before on your TV or did the problem start when you plugged in the TV?

Actually, I did a fresh install of Windows 7 and FSX when I hooked it up to the TV because I replaced both my SSDs for a single 256GB SSD. I tell you what, let me hook up one of my Dell 2405FPW 24" monitor and see if it works. If it does, then it's the TV. If not, then it's the PC installation.

BRB...

Yup, Saab, it's the TV... On the Dell 2405FPW, full screen works perfectly! I guess I need to find out why the TV is switching to a lower res/no AA/no AF when going to full screen. BTW, it did not have this problem when hooked up to a 50" Panasonic TH-50PZ85U Plasma TV.

I'm not familiar with that TV but does it have more than one HDMI or maybe even a DVI that you could try with?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I FIXED IT !!!!!!!!!!!!

After much searching on the web, it all boiled down to a problem with the TV's EDID information. The TV was telling the videocard to output in 1024x768 when in full screen mode. I used a program called MonInfo to create a custom .inf file.

Once this custom .inf is created, you just need to go to device manager and update the monitor driver with this .inf file and done!

Now I'm back to enjoying FSX at this tv's native resolution in full screen. All 46" inches of it! B)
