Im curious which airbus will be the best

Featured Replies

in 737NG FCOM, it said we can fly VNAV with VOR/LOC. I guess that should be the reason why FPV is rarely used in 737NG. VNAV is based on FMS calculation and it should play the same role as Airbus's FPA (during NPA), right?

Airbus pilots have FPA to help them do the non-precision approach, but Boeing pilots don't need it since VNAV has its great functionality. I am wondering that, if it's possible to fly in "managed" mode with "LOC", then everything will be fine. I have no idea whether this is possible or not. Anyone know about this? I would appreciate a lot.

I read a post from an Airbus A330 pilot several months ago. He said Airbus adds a "slight" forward pressure at 50' AGL, but he can barely "feel" that. Thus, I don't really think this thing is important as we may not really notice the effect of the slight forward trim.

You can't track a VOR in the A320, it is not available.

Yes, you can maybe fly it VNAV in the 737, but only if the approach is in the database. That might be the case in real databases, but rarely in FS databases. So you can build it yourself by putting all the constraints in the FMC, but for some VOR approaches that can be tricky.

Also possible in the A320, if it's in the database. Shortly before reaching the intercept altitude you would press APPR. In the FMA you would see :

ALT | APP NAV

FINAL

After the FInal Approach Fix you would see FINAL APP then and the AP holds the glidepath (similar to ILS). You see the deviation indicated by a magenta box (instead of the diamond in case of ILS). So you descend to the MDA then, turn off AP/FD and continue visually.

Here you can see a real world 737 driver showing a VOR/DME at Corfu. It's quite long, but you only need to watch the last 10 minutes. He uses the vertical path indication in the Navigation display for guidance.

Probably you're right regarding the flare. Still interesting how the Addons handle it. Autotrim needs to be fast to get the 'Airbus feel', so when do they turn it off for the flare in an FS Addon ? Or it is not necessary at all to turn it off. Well, let's wait and see :).

I find out my A320 FCOMs, and now I almost understand how those things work.

As you said, in Airbus the "FINAL APP" mode is something like "LNAV+VNAV" in Boeing, and I guess that is only for RNAV APP.(?)

So, my conclusion is that if Aerosoft does not model FPA/TRK, we can only use V/S instead.

Anyway, I don't care too much about flying with V/S and ALT. At least that would not be too annoying for me.

Looking forward to my new bus...

From what they recently said, I'm pretty sure they will, but I don't remember any features in detail. See these two threads to know what it will have and what not:
