August 22, 201213 yr Point taken. I think the money thing and statement is the one to have in mind whenever there is a drive to outsource or privatize any security related branches or controlling duties. The simple rule of what is cheaper may not catch up with the one judging the level of actual security achieved. Still, the 'cheaper' one often wins. And the boundaries between too much and not enough governmental influence and control aren't easy to pick up at times. Well, thanks to you, I guess folks can relate to the lobby fights going on in the background when a politician wants to do something for his people, but perhaps something against those few running this or that business. Not specially related to the aviation industry, but surely pointing at their big lobby influence, as seen on other topics. That's where the money focus comes into play.

August 22, 201213 yr Sensible selling is the key, limit the amount any one person can buy, besides selling alcohol to drunk passengers should be banned as its not the most responsible thing to do. People who already board the flight drunk should only be allowed super strong coffee to help sober them up. I was under the impression that drinking coffee doesn't in any way sober someone up at all, it just creates a more 'wired' (for want of a better word) drunk. I may well be completely wrong though and will happily stand corrected. Just curious, that's all. Gavin Barbara Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

The caffeine acts as a stimulant, which may make people appear to be more sober, but they aren't actually. John-Alan Pascoe
