These are likely rumors. Nonetheless, I find this very exciting and I can't wait to see how these chips perform in FSX with a Kepler GPU. :Big Grin:

 

Also, if we could hit 5GHZ on a Haswell, in theory, we would be getting around 15-20% higher FPS than a SB system @ 5GHZ.

IB is 5-10% faster than SB, Haswell is predicted to be 10% faster than IB...

 

I really hope that they can fix the kinks with 22nm though. I would be awesome to be able to hit 5+GHZ on a Haswell and get incredible framrates in FSX. Extreme overclockers would be breaking the 60FPS barrier on FSMark11! :biggrin:

Haswell will almost certainly be 10% faster per clock than Ivy, it is a new architecture with a totally new cache design after all. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see Haswell stretch its legs in some scenarios and go much, much faster than Ivy at the same clock. With the digital VRMs moving to the package (die?), and *PROPER* thermal interface :rolleyes: Haswell should be a beast. I'll probably upgrade when the time comes.

Nice find! I'm excited about Haswell, though I'll probably wait for Broadwell. I doubt I'll be in the position to upgrade in the next year.

I think I'll likely do my next full system upgrade late 2013. - I have a strong hunch that Haswell is going to really give us the needed performance jumps to warrant a system upgrade.

 

In theory, If I could push a Haswell to 5-5.2GHZ[on water], That would be about a 15-25% jump in sheer performance from higher clockspeed.(from my 2700@4.8)

If you take into account the better clock for clock speeds, then we would be looking at potentially an overall 30-40% jump in FPS over my current SB setup! :shok:

 

If Intel can pull this off, this will really make FSX shine with a Haswell @ 5GHZ + GTX 6/780 + DDR3 2400 + SSD = :Big Grin: :Nerd:

Like I said in my other post, If I can hit 5GHZ on water with Haswell, I will see at least a 35% jump in FPS compared to my SB@4.8.

Clock for clock speed increases are very likely not a rumor. - This is customary for each generation... As for overclocking these things... That is the rumor part. lol

Heck, that's what they always say everytime a new cpu will be released.

 

You'll never hear: "Intel also promises mediocre overclocking headroom, potentially implying Haswell won't be able to push as far as Sandy Bridge did in terms of raw GHz numbers."
