What are you guys doing for the overhead panel?

Or are you only setting up MCP?

I was wanting to assign fuel pumps, battery etc to my saitek switch panel but the mouse macros and luas tend to be just TOGGLE mode only.

Have you been able to set absolute values on any overhead switches?

Just bumping this, I'm wondering has anyone managed to access the Lua variables for the QW?

The overhead panel mainly is what I want to control, mouse macros are only toggling for me.

Günter

Have you made some tests now that SP2 works with Win 8 ?

I hope i have made mistakes and that you can do far better than me :)

Have a nice day

Yes, yes, I'm on it.

Since SP2 it's workig with WIN8.

The last days I have upgraded my computers to WIN8 (all where enterprise RTM before), yesterday set up FSX and now ready to go further on the 146.

Unfortunately some parts are a bit complicated, but overall there are not so much functions to do in this plane as it is relative simple compared to a NGX or the DC9 ...

You'll read about the release here and in the QW forum!

Release is "soon"

yes, and please after tommorrow start a flame war why I haven't released.

After that ask, if I'm still alive.

Then proclaim that you are very disappointed and you would not buy anything from me.

Thursday I will give you an update and you'll say how much you love me and that we are the best company on earth ...

Uhhh... that isn't the forum with the big FOUR letters?

Users are so predictable

You can add :

- a software bug ask some delay to be corrected and the release date will be later ...

Hopefully we are not on the 'SoftBus' forum ... B)

Lol Guenter!

Very much looking forward to your LINDA scripts. I never could get the overhead panel functions mapped to my hardware I could only get toggle not on/off which is no good for two way switches.

I'm hoping you have been able to figure out the vars to set.. or I'll ask you for a refund

do that!

I know some nice russian guys which will deliver you the money personally B)

I'm on a good way about the on/off things. Work already.

But it is all a bit more complicated as I thought.

Hi guys,

I hope this will still be read, but as I am new to the Forum I want to tell that there´s still Need for a BAe146 module to use with LINDA!

I´ve been working for days now using the Tracer and Editor... but somehow I seem to be the wrong Person to get things working fine.

My Overhead is working pretty perfect in WIN7 using a iiyama Touchscreen Monitor, but until now

I was not able to catch the right code for the MWS caution and warning reset

  1. I performed a trace, found the "LUA write" and used those codes in the Editor (Syntax ok)
  2. I assigned those self made Edits in the BAe146 and saved them
  3. after running the plane I still can´t get any use of my assigned Buttons.

I would really be happy if anyone of you guys could give me a hint what is going wrong in my thinking!

Thanks a lot in advance!

Alex

Hi Alex

Welcome to the LINDA forum.  I can not make any comment on a BAe146 module as that is not my specialist area.  However, I will try to help you with your particular query.

LINDA is designed to work with the VRInsight MCP panels and other switch panels and joysticks that use buttons or switches.  I am not sure therefore how you are getting the overhead panel working as a touch screen.  I assume that you have your aircraft's overhead panel displayed as a separate window on the touchscreen.  If this is the case, the button pushes would operate directly with the aircraft simulation: LINDA (via FSUIPC) will not see these interactions.  The only way LINDA will see the 'button push' is if a Lvar is set by the aircraft.  The Lvars are listed in the lefthand panel of the Tracer. Once you identify which Lvar is associated with which button operation, you can write a Lua function to act on this information.  I hope that is makes sense to you.

Should you wish to create your own module for the BAe146 you should adapt an existing one.

Of interest to me, is that you have a touch screen working alongside LINDA.  Several users have reported errors when using these devices.

Thanks for your fast Response, Scotflieger!

Wow, I´m a bit nervous now... being answered by a LINDA Support/Developer

and so I am Sorry, beginners don´t always provide enough and correct Information... and I didn´t expect anybody´s interest really

The Touchscreen does operate the Overhead Panel using a separate window.

It works perfect and there are no Troubles at all with Default FSX aircraft!

It also works perfect with my JustFlight BAE146 200 and 300 series.

NO ERRORS EVER EXPERIENCED USING TOUCH AND LINDA AND SPAD simultaneously!!!

My first (how to) Problem is to create a correct LUA function from a trace readout inside the main window, where I Need to reset the Maser warn and caution whenever valves or source powers  are switched - I have to quit those warnings via MOUSE in the main view.

can´t get that working as a button assignment

The second Problem is the fuel cutoff, which is done by the thrust Levers.

The BAe has no reversers, and when on IDLE i Need to right click a Lever which is then pulled back to cutoff posn.

So far so good: I traced the function and got an LVAR command and a LUA command at the same time and function, but None of These seem to work, neither as code , nor as text command via Editor (Syntax ok) assigned to a button...

Just for Info: The tail brake and wing Spoilers normally are also controlled thru a Lever which I successfully transformed into a increase/decrease button assignment after tracing the commands ...and this works, I just don´t remember how I made that

  1. When creating my new aircraft in Linda ( string found at once) I get an I/O error 183 all the time, any idea what that is? The module is created though and seems to work as far as I use Default FSX assignments.
  2. can you suggest me a "good" existing downloadable 4-engine module to transform? (FSX Default 747 can not be selected inside Default FSX)
  3. is there any more Manual than Linda v1.01 (August 2011) and Brian747´s "Don´t Panic" available? (if I could have some more Information about LVars and Luas and creating modules via the Editor I might probably succeed...
  4. I know about the MCP´s, but they just don´t "fit" into the old style BAe Cockpit - my Saiteks work well on all my desired  purposes up to now. I´m thinking about that later on the Antonov 225
  5. I LOVE THE LINDA SOFTWARE for being quite an easy way to handle hardware - I´m sure it will work fine as soon as anyone can teach me to use the Editor in the right way,
  6. and I´ve noticed the DONATE button which I will surely use when my "Baby" has come to life in full!!! I know about the Long, hard work to create Software like that (...for free) :Applause: :Applause:  :Applause:

Thanks so far, I hope there are some informations you can use to help me out of my existencial crisis...

maybe I should just buy a Train sim

Greetings from Salzburg/Austria

Hi Alex

Please don't be amazed by my signature claims.  I only found LINDA 9 months ago and, like you, I was amazed by the quality of the software and the capability it offers users. My development role has only been to add the ability to use the VRInsight Airbus FCU panel.  From the knowledge (and pleasure) I have gained I am only to happy to help others.

First, I suggest you take a good look at the latest Aerosoft Airbus or PMDG 737NGX for hints and ideas. These are massive works written by Günter Steiner that I have in a very small part updated. Any functions you can use can simply be copied to your BAE146 module and adapted.

For your first problem you need to identify the Lvar that corresponds to the Master Warning. Usually, it will have the value 0 for off/reset and 1 for on/set and will have a logical name like 'MasterWarning'.  You simply need a function similar to this (the syntax may not be totally correct as I am doing this from memory):

function MasterWarningCancel ()

    LvarSet = 'L:MasterWarning'

   if ipc.readLvar(LvarSet) == 1 then

       ipc.writeLvar(LvarSet, 0)

   end

end

You then need to assign this function to a button on a joystick or panel.

The second problem is an easy one. You don't need any LINDA functions at all. There are 2 options using either FSUIPC or LINDA.  I use a Saitek throttle quadrant which has switch that is operated when at idle. Assign the On Press and On Repeat functions to FSX: Throttle Decr. It is a good idea to assign the On Release function to FSX: Throttle close.

To answer your other questions:

I don't know what I/O Error 183 is unless the 183 refers to a line number in a module (see report in Console).

There is no update to the manual at present.

Please feel free to donate using the button. LINDA is freeware but the various aircraft and panels don't come for free.

Regards

Andrew
