FAA Medical Question

Recommended Posts

Guest

Ok, I'm gearing up to start flying lessons in the near future. I really need a site, or a list of info for the medical requirements, specifically eyesight stuff. I have an astigmatism and such, so details eye info is valuable so that when I ask my eye doctor he can let me know if I will be wasting my money learnign to fly....Thanks,Jason

You might need a waiver, but I couldnt find any specific information about astigmatism. However, I would search Google for terms like "FAA Medical Disqualifications" or something similar. Just a quick search I did returned this:http://www.aviationmedicine.com/indexwhatwedo.htmHope you find what you are looking for, and good luck flying.CraigEDIT: Whoops, it was right there under my nose..... http://www.aviationmedicine.com/vision.htm#astigmatism

I guess it's just 20/40 corrected for third class medical... I would have thought they had more stringent standards, not that I mind the bit mroe relaxed ones ;-)
