AFCAD2 file for the old Hong Kong airport?

Featured Replies

Is there an AFCAD2 file for the old hong kong airport somewhere? I can't seem to find one for FS9. Thanks!

Hey BigAl,Funny you should ask for that. I just happen to be making a completely new one for FS2004. Actually more involved than just AFCAD.... new textures, scenery, landclass, IGS system, (right-turn) AI aircraft, etc.I think I tried out every add-on available from FS98 on up, freeware and commercial. Most were not framerate friendly others had issues or were too dated. Decided to create my own as I don't believe anyone else is actively working on something for Kai Tak.I got hooked on "re-opening" this airport after visiting this site:http://www.swiremariners.com/cathayhk.htmlstrongly suggest this. It's great resource site for Hong Kong and Cathay Pacific. If you want, post your email and I'll send ya the AFCAD when I thinks it's ready.pony

A few sceenies...

Thanks for highlighting my site, Pony man!I list on those pages every AFCAD file that - to my knowledge - has been produced to date. I look forward to trying yours too!Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumonthttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg

Hey "Dark Mark",Definately send ya copy when I finish this puppy... though I know AFCAD I am sorta taking the next step deeper into it to make sure it's up to snuff. Plus making the Kowloon hillsides a plush green (the way I rememeber), adding water to surround the runway jetty (not filled in with land like the default), little things like that.Actually I am on a quest to Aisian websites to see if I can discover any little unknown "gems" that we can use. (like a completely redown airport for FS2004... wouldn't that be nice!). Also trying to track down the author of that FS2000 dynamic AI on your site to see if I can update the AI aircraft.Oh well, wish meluck!

This is great stuff. I have, like you, tried I don't know how many airports but all are serious fps heavy. So I took the parts I liked and didn't cause my fps to go single digit. I also installed the dynamic AI...and I must say it's really fun watching the incoming planes make that right turn. Are you going to make it compatible with the freeware mesh? Plus, is the airport one big bgl file? I ask this because I find it very usefull to remove the parts I don't need in order to get a smooth ride, and this can't be done unless there are several bgl's-Mikkel
