Subwoofer stuck on full volume

Recommended Posts

Anyone know what could be causing that? I cant turn it down... one of the speakers controls the volume, but at the time, its not working... the subwoofer seems to be stuck at full volume or at least close to it... because when I turn up the speaker volume, the subwoofer's volume increases a little bit. Any ideas?

What manufacture are the speakers? Have you made any software or wiring changes lately?

They are Cyber Acoustics... no major changes other than a video card update and some game installations.

This sounds like a hardware problem- nothing software, I'm afraid. My hunch is that the resistor controlling the sub volume has blown, and is letting all voltage through at the highest setting. Unfortunately, CyberAcoustics aren't Harmon-Kardom quality, so I wouldn't be suprised if this is so.Before you loose hope, unplug all connections and then re-connect, this will ensure nothing is loose. If all cables are tight, and the volume knob is still not working, that resistor would be my bet.

Well... I think youre right cuz I've already checked connections, etc. I know CA isnt really a quality brand... its all I had enough money for back when I got it. Thanks a ton for your help. :)
