HiFlyer

Plague Incorporated? Uhm.......

Yah, I remember looking over the kids shoulders as they played postal; blinking rapidly several times and then wandering off to get a sandwich, wondering idly if I was raising sociopaths.

There is a certain numbing effect after a while.

Geez, if it was about tasteless games, I would not know where to carry all my awards. Adding to that, if I ask my girlfriend about the most useless game around, I know she will say 'the one with the planes you always run'.

Erm, does anyone recall that South Park episode on World of Warcraft?

I love Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption, World of Warcraft etc. all pretty useless but fun. I'm glad they're out there. What a boring world it would be if we had to take everything seriously.

Sorry fellas, my previous outburst was uncalled for...

I think it was comical, as my friend said the same thing about the game (and then downloaded it).

My favorite episode of all time!

Hi.

A colleague downloaded the app earlier this afternoon and we extinguished humanity over a cup of tea in the staff canteen. It was such a proud moment when our lil' baby bacillus had its first fatality. I almost shed a tear.

We had fun planning the most effective sequence of symptoms and transmissability for different start locations, and went into far too much depth during the post-apocalyptic analysis. Geography, climate, economy and global political standing all play a part. Still, I think it's easy to read too much into such a game, rather like Zack Snyder's movies.

I can understand the attraction though-- for 70 pence you too can be an evil genius. Mwaahhh ha haaahhh!

Man, I've been trying to play it on Normal level, it's a Bi%CH to defeat humanity! It's hard to get the right balance, if it's too lethal you end up killing all the carriers too soon!

Several real life diseases die off after the initial outbreak for the same reason.

I have yet to beat bacteria on normal also. I can't seem to infect Russia and Alaska fast enough without the DNA samples running dry and a cure comes too soon before I can morph it from just a infection to a deadly infection.

I have been trying to infect a majority first then pull the trigger on lethality but that seems to not work too well.

The name of the game is patience. Start mutating to spread the desease, amd "de-mutate" to get rid of nasty symptoms. Only after every in the world is infected should you de-mutate and focus solely on deadly symptoms. There are some very scary symptoms.

I always start with Madagascar...

I have been going with Brazil. Living conditions there are not the best and I find I can infect pretty quickly.

We started in Afghanistan on the assumption that the developed world wouldn't notice a new disease spreading through the Middle East until it was too late and we'd become sufficiently transmissible to stay ahead of the research. Coughing and cattle were the key to surviving long enough to develop, birds started the spread once we were ready, and the ability to infect treated water clinched the developed world though by then corpses remained infectious. I think projectile vomit helped. Yuk... gross.

I think we succeeded by upping infectiousness before the disease became deadly- we had notifications like 'Your disease is now more infectious than the common cold' popping up every now and again quite a while before we had our first fatality.

Interestingly, Russia went fairly quickly. Canada and Greenland were the last to fall.
