Looking for any decent japan addon sceneries..seems like it would be a challenging place to fly

Not sure you are aware of the freeware list of sceneries but here's the link anyway - http://www.freewarescenery.com/fsx.html. I'm not aware of any payware stuff. Just my input... I'm sure you'll get many responses to this question.

I think these guys are doing sceneries for Japan for FSX. It might even be the old Overland sceneries group.

No, i dont know any good Japan scenery...

Sadly there are dozens of fine Japanese airport sceneries for FS9 supported by AES, but absolutely zero for FSX. I presume there are just no high quality payware or freeware sceneries for that area.

FS9 scenery will work in FSX and, if you get the utility Addon Converter X, the scenery will be converted to FSX during your session over and around the scenery.
