September 11, 201213 yr So does any of you know if and how you can do that? I don't like having blank airports in X-Plane, without any aiport bulidings. I don't have X-plane 10 yet either, but do you know if there's any program I will need? And I'm not a computer profesional either, so I'll probaly need lots of help. Thanks! Adam
September 11, 201213 yr I'm sitting in jury duty (boring case) so I'll answer you question as best I can. There is a freeware program called fs2xp which converts fsx and fs2004 scenery to xp. I'm on my cell right now so I don't have a link to it but just google it. What it does is creat a fake fsx install on your hard drive where you can install the scenery to. If you already have fsx or fs2004 installed you don't need this part. Then run fs2xp and it will ask for a directory where the scenery you want to convert is located. There is also a second directory to point to any additional places the scenery in question may be located. Finally it asks for the location of x-planes custom scenry directory. Then run it. If all goes well it will take 30 secs or less. Then load up xp and test. In some cases it will convert fine. In most cases there will be some missing objects or floating objects that you can adjust with the overlay editor for WED. In some cases it's hopleless and it won't convert. Flytampa stuff works pretty good imagine sim works and a few others fsdtream team does not. Aerosoft city scenerys really work well and are easy to do. Obviously you must own these scenerys first and second it may violate licensing to have it installed twice or in a sim it's not made for. Check with the developer if they are ok with converting it but don't ask for support they won't support the scenery in x-plane.

But can't you use the default scenery and convert that since I don't have any addon scenery for FSX? Thanks. Adam GoranM The first option says you can't convert default scenery to 10 right? Or am I wrong? It seems silly why it wouldn't be for 10 though.
September 12, 201213 yr Commercial Member As far as I'm aware, you can only convert 3rd party scenery from FS9/FSX to X plane. It's not always 100% successful, and you will need to open WED for any clean up that you might have to do.

I just kept it downloaded. And then I put it into x-plane 10. Could I do that? Thanks! In some cases it will convert fine. September 12, 201213 yr Commercial Member Well, let's say I downloaded addon scenery, but I didn't install it to FSX. I just kept it downloaded. And then I put it into x-plane 10. Could I do that? No. The converter reads your scenery files from FS9/FSX and converts then installs them into your Custom Scenery folder.. You cannot just run the exe file and point it to X Plane. In some cases it will convert fine. In most cases there will be some missing objects or floating objects that you can adjust with the overlay editor for WED. FSDreamTeam has a notoriously strong DRM attached to their files and that may be causing issues in the conversion. You shouldn't have a problem with freeware in the avsim library.
September 13, 201213 yr Author Thanks then! I guess my only choice for me is to download 3rd party scenery then. And when I get x-plane 10, I'll convert it. Is there a read me for how to convert the scenery and how to use the program? Thanks very much!
September 13, 201213 yr Commercial Member I think there is a readme, but if there isn't, it's a very simple, straight forward process.
