I picked up acceleration for the Carrier Ops.

 

I know that acceleration contains SP1 and SP2, so you do not need them. I looked in the control panel/programs and I can see SP2 there but not SP1 (and I know I installed it because SP2 will not install with out it). So my simple question is can I simply uninstall SP2, then install Acceleration because I see no way to remove SP1?

 

I am trying to avoid reinstalling everything

Nevermind, found out that it will work if I just uninstall SP2. I missed this in my google search! You can lock/delete this

I was going to point out that you need to first uninstall S2 to see SP1 in add/remove programs.

 

Do you intend to leave addons installed or are you planning on reinstalling them after Acceleration?

 

I for one would be interested in how your install of Acceleration works out, so please keep us posted.

I am going to leave the following installed:

 

REXE, GSX, FSPassengers, FSUPIC (free version), FSWC, EZDOK, PFE Deluxe

And my planes: PMDG 747, PMDG 737NGX, IRIS BD-5, and IRIS F-14 Tomcat, Plus freeware planes

 

I will probably have REX restore the original textures before the install, and then set them back again. The only other one that may have a problem I think is FSWC, I am not sure if it alters the textures or not, but that is easy to reinstall.

Its scenery add-ons that normally break. Although it won't be immeadiately apparent, any changes made by addons to autogen files, terrain.cfg etc will be lost as the upgrade will overwrite files.

What I did (2 months ago) was to uninstall SP2, then UTE, left all addons & scenerys, then installed Acceleration & back with UTE....everything works fine for me. Vatsim, addons, scenerys no problems at all..did it mainly to fly carrier ops & boy is that fun?....yeeees sir!

Everything worked fine by just uninstalling SP2 (there is no option to uninstall SP1) and then installed Acceleration.

 

Note: I did not have any addon scenery, just some BGL files in the Addon Scenery folder to fix/update airport runways. Those of course still remain and are fine. Someday when the price for good scenery comes down to something reasonable, I may buy it.
