Have I got too much of a good thing?

Featured Replies

Would all you good people stop producing so much good stuff that I just can't do without. Now that I got your attention, I wondered if anybody else shared my appetite, thinking, and almost frustration at times for all that is becoming available. (Meant as a backdoor compliment, not a complaint)I reduced my aircraft folder to about 100 entries. Of course many of these contain multiple liveries and models so I don't know how many there are. Many are payware. Many are freeware which are IMHO just as appealing and for which I am most thankful to the kind developers. In addition to these, I have an archive removed from FS9 proper that I don't know how many there are, but I can't totally delete them.I find that I fly one for a while, possibly on VatSim and then move to another. I also find that I forget just what is required for all of them, in particular Startup, Autopilot and FMC setups if there has been a while since I flew them (i.e. Frolov Dash8, DF737/FFX, PSS, etc. etc.)Now, when I can't remember how to fly everything I already have, I ask myself: "Why do you need anything else"? Why? BECAUSE I MUST HAVE THEM! a little voice answers, well a big voice. How can I turn down the new King Air 200, or new SimFlyers Pheonix? And I am looking forward to the eventual release of the new DF737.How about the new freeware Howard and Russian offerings of which I have no knowledge but look unresistable? In addition to this, I cannot help but consider if I should cut this off at this stage and wait for the next version of MSFS and possibly invest there, loosing everything I already have. (Hopefully not even though I know and respect the views of the many who want a new engine which may negate everything past).Everything seems to be both good and bad! I think the new supplies of the great work that the Flightsim community is giving us today is awsome (Sound like Jeff Gordon don't I), but I am almost reaching the point of not knowing what to do with all of it, both freeware and payware.ISN'T THIS A WONDERFUL PROBLEM? (If you share my thinking at all).If this is a ridiculous post, Mr. Moderator just remove it, but I wondered if anybody else goes through the behind scratching decision making I do thanks to the great stuff out there for FS9 now days.Thank you everybody and Happy Flying:RTH

I agree 100%... There is allot of great stuff out there and not enough time to fly them all. I'm in flying heaven over here. I'd like to thank Microsoft for such a wonderful sim which I've enjoyed over the years and also the countless developers that have put their hard earned time into bringing us all this wonderful work. In the days of FS4, no one could have imagined the simulation we have today. It has been a joy to watch all this evolution over the past 18 years...

Yes, you do have too much of a good thing; you have truly "sold your soul to the devil" & your time for redemption has long since passed... But enjoy it while you have it :) Dillon.....I sincerely hope that you will be on this forum in 10 years commenting on what we could never have imagined "back in the days of FS9".Cheers.
