If I want to "Take a Break" from Track IR?

Featured Replies

First of all, I just bought the product and wow is the weather ever awsome!

I'm having alot of difficulty though figuring how to use the cameras. I generally use Track IR, and everything seems fine when Track IR is active. However, during longer flights and just in general I like to take off my Track IR hat and use the hat switch. But when track IR becomes inactive, the view is usually sideways (because it followed the hat being taken off). I am unable to go to my default view by pressing the buttons I have assigned and resume panning as normal. I have a Pilot View set up as default and a joystick button assigned to it. It's as if the program assumes I will always be using Track IR.

Coming from using EZdok this was never really a problem because it could detect whether or not Track IR was active.

Also is there any possible way of being able to use the mouse wheel for zooming?

I usually center my TIR and then lock it. Maybe that would work for you before you disconnect it in Opus?

Hello do_denver2,

The solution you will most probably find in the

http://www.opussoftware.co.uk/opusfsi/OpusFSX_Getting_Started_Single_PC.pdf guide. (Page 10)

In case you have a networked setup you will find on their website a special guide named:

I use my MS Intellimouse for zooming and panning through the standard FSX interface simply by pressing the middle button. I also use my Hat switch for panning. I do not have any special configuration settings in FSUIPC4, it is all just using the standard FSX features.

You can obviously press F12 to centre TIR. Alternatively after pressing F9 to stop TIR just reselect your camera view and everything will centre back onto your initial eye position.

Stephen

Ok, so now I can use the mouse for zooming and panning. However, when I center and pause track IR, I am unable to use the hat switch unless the airplane is not moving. Additionally, all of my eyepoint buttons do not work, so I am unable to actually control anything in the cockpit unless I exit out of windowed mode and disable track IR in the opus program. Then I can use the hat switch. But I still can't control my eyepoint! VERY frustrating.

Now I just spent $45 mainly because of the weather, and kudos, the weather is awesome. But another consideration was to replace Ezdok, which so far this program is doing a very lousy job at for $45.

No need to get so frustrated we are listening. When you pause TIR there is no indication through the SDK other than the raw data remaining unchanged, so at the moment the PBY are still be updated but not altering. We have amended the software and will detect the paused data and ignore the PBY data altogether, then you will be able to use your hat switch which adjusts the PBY of the single eye point. You should also be aware that there is absolutely no means within FSX to read alterations to the eye point position, it would all be too slow even if there were. Hence you cannot alter the eye point's XYZ coordinates whilst DHM is active, the same applies to the TrackIR device. But just wait a day or two and the upgrade will be available. Normally you only need ask politely and if it is possible it will be done.

That statement should be pinned. Can be applied to almost anything nowadays!

When I want to disable TrackIr while flying, I just hit F9 which pauses the TrackIr interface. Then I hit F12 to center my view and then use my hat switch. Never had any problems doing it this way.

Thank you.

Well I do certainly appreciate the prompt service, and don't worry too much because I've already recommended Opus several times, specifically for weather. I'm sure when a few more of the issues are worked out the price tag will be completely worth it, but it does seem to be a bit incomplete at the moment.

I have two other questions...

1) When panning with the mouse, after about 2 seconds the view defaults back to the default view that is currently active. So for example I can't seem to leave it so I can look out the window without it defaulting back to straight ahead after about 2 seconds. I thought I read somewhere how to adjust this but I can't remember how.

2. I don't think that the DHM is working entirely correctly for me, and yes the program is set to run as administrator. I do see the shaking effect, but not the up and down or side to side effect, what I think are called the acceleration effects. In DHM settings, I have enabled Taxiing and Body Acceleration checked, and when I hit test I get a quick shaking effect. The same for Landing.

On the 3rd slider I have Turbulent Bumbs checked, but when I click Test, nothing happens. On the 4th slider, I have Turbulent Motion, Vibration Effects, and More Turbulence checked, and I get quick shaking again. Something tells me that this isn't entirely right.

Yes the product is in development but that does mean our users can have an input on what features they would like to see.

When panning with the mouse, after about 2 seconds the view defaults back to the default

We have tried it and it works here OK, have you got any other mouse actions enabled that might have an effect? Have you got AHM enabled? If so try turning that off but it works OK here.

The new beta (to be posted soon) will seperate turbulence and vibration effects, on your version you would have to untick the vibration to test the low frequency turbulence motions.

Thanks again for your reply. WHere should I address future questions so as not to do it under this thread?

The issue with the eye movement has been solved by created a duplicate view with DHM turned off, so that I can adjust eyepoint. I have downloaded the beta and we will see about the dynamic movement. I still haven't figured out the minor issue with the mouse look activated that it defaults back to forward look after 1 second.

Now with the 2.25 beta I have also one small problem that was not present before. I have all of my camera views set up perfectly with the camera tool. But then when I use them they all default to looking forward, which is obviously not what I want for some views. For example, if I have a spot view of the right side of the plane, so I can see the right profile, it looks exactly as it should with the camera tool. But when I go to that view outside of the tool, it is looking forward, and I have to pan to the left or turn my head to the left to see the plane. The same for all of the other views, for example I have a spot view of looking from in front of the plane toward cockpit. It looks fine in the camera tool, but when I actually go to use that view I am positioned in front of the plane (which is correct) but looking forward away from the plane, and I have to pan around or turn my ahead around to see the plane.

Oh, and I can tell you that this problem only happens when track IR is enabled (so forget what I said about having to "pan around", it should only be look around with Track IR). WIth track ir disabled the views are all oriented correctly as specified with the camera tool. WIth Track IR enabled all of the views are forward facing. If I pause track ir, then switch to say a profile view of the plane, and then unpause track ir, then the view remains oriented correctly at the side profile of the plane.

Also a small detail I noticed from before which is still the case now, for all backward looking cameras, such as a seat facing backwards or a spot view of the front of the plane, track ir does not permit me to turn my head to the right, only all the way around to the left, although I can pan to the right. I have no idea of this is an Opus camera issue or not, but please have a look.

You will have to disable TIR for outside views since it is not compatible at the moment. TIR defaults to looking straight ahead. It is something we will address is a future beta.

We will have a look at that backward facing camera TIR issue.

BTW: you can ask questions where ever you want. We check the official OpusFSX Flight1 forum more often than th unofficial AVSIM OpusFSX forum.

Edit: we have now posted a new version with these TIR issues corrected.
