October 9, 201213 yr Don't know about that, the Orbx forums would be the place to ask, but to be honest regarldess of the technology used the appearence of the trees is not very realistic, the forests just dont look anythin like NZ forests from the air, they look nicely rendered, they just dont look very NZ-ish. Having said that if you're not from NZ you wont notice, it'll just look good to you either way Now you come to mention it they do look rather same-ish? in some areas but being a Brit I've no way of telling if that's right? October 9, 201213 yr I agree with Matt. SI is tops, it has some beautiful airfields, including my favourites Queenstown and Milford sound. October 10, 201213 yr Matthew,ANZ do scheduled jet flights within the SI.Not many but they do. ANZ 733 and A320 NZCH ->NZDN <NZCH->NZQN.. That's cool....I do like those short hops in the 737's. NZSI is spectacular scenery for this sort of thing. I just wish PMDG would do the Dash 8 as that is perfect for around the South Island. The other amazing route is Delta Airlines B757 from Salt Lake City to Jackson Hole. Good to see FTX KJAC so hopefully KSLC will be covered someday. Cheers Hehe, yeah that doesn't help of course as the movie was shot on both islands  This is true, Also there was even portions of that film shot on Mount Victoria which is a park in the centre of Wellington (kind of like shooting in Central Park in NYC). Those scenes are forest scenes but if you were to turn the camera slightly you would have seen the sky scrapers. The reason to shoot there is when the crew takes breaks they can have lunch in the city or go to the pubs or nightclubs at the end of the day. A lot of the backlot work is done in Wellington as well in the suburb Miramar, which is very close to Wellington Airport. This is were Weta is located. Funny how Kiwi's love to talk about New Zealand so much Matthew Kane I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me
October 10, 201213 yr Author Oh darn it. I just missed 10% off tuesday sale by pcaviator by 30 minutes. Was going to save myself $2 on the BN-2 Islander. Still gonna get it though (it's on sale 50% for about $20). It's going to be the perfect complement to New Zealand. I've decided to get both North and South. South first, then north in a day or two.
October 10, 201213 yr I just wish PMDG would do the Dash 8 as that is perfect for around the South Island. Been using the PMDG J41 quite a bit around the SI. from Nelson, Hokitika etc. You can just about park that thing in a supermarket car park. One wrong move though, and your bringing people's washing in. October 12, 201213 yr I dunno...but why have one and not other... They both are great, both fps friendly, and your probably gonna get them both anyways. October 20, 201213 yr Well for anyone else still deciding North or South there are preview shots of a new airport release for NZ and that's NZMF Milford Sound. Loads of animations and two extra strips nearby included: T004 Quintin Loge to the West with its very interesting approach, and NZMJ Martins Bay with its beautiful coastline to the North-East. Looks very good and is certainly a step up from the default strip in the NZSI package. Two challenging approaches in one package gets my money. Geoff Geoff Brown
January 3, 201313 yr Happy New Year to all, Have just purchased the NI to add to the SI. Have been able to fly from Opotiki in the Bay of Plenty to Gisborne in the default Robinson following SH2 through the Waioeka Gorge. The scenery is very good and pretty accurate en-route. In and around Gisborne there are several errors the biggest of which is a cliff which doesn't exist close to the airport S 38° 40.31 E 178 0.08. The coastline from the airport to the port is very flat and not raised above the hightide mark to the extent depicted in the scenery. Makorori on the coast road north of Gisborne has numerous houses and holiday homes which are not there and just over the hill in Tatapouri is a campground with cabins that aren't shown. Ian
