October 8, 201213 yr Hi; This probably been posted before but I've tried to make my AI Sounds as realistic as possible (eg takeoff for jets, tubroprops etc) without much success I have tried FSHotSeat and found it lacking the bottom line is there a way to improve these Fs9 sounds? Thanks in advance Robin
October 10, 201213 yr No, not more than you've arlready done. Well, there is one way - use touchdown effects for the tire chirp and reverse sounds after landing. Other than a more accurate tire chirp than FSHotSFX can provide, it doesn't really do anything more than that program does (and for landings only), and doesn't have things like takeoff sounds and the doppler effect. I have a package of such effects here for my propliner AI, but it can be used by any AI aircraft with cfg file tweaks. http://www.calclassic.com/AIAircraft.htm File #10. October 11, 201213 yr Author Thanks Tom; I have your AI packages everything but the sound files, will get them and I have really enjoyed the oldies flying around in my skies many thanks for the work done. Just a thought is it possible to alais sounds from non AI to AI planes? Robin
October 11, 201213 yr Hi I've been reading this post, and have tried to improve the volume of the default sounds which by the way just increase the volume. I bought FSHot Seat and found it lacking for what I wanted it for. Which was the roar of a AI jet taking off etc. I am wondering can one alais a jet sound to an AI aircraft? I have an extensive library of non AI aircraft sounds available any ideas on this? Robin Perhaps time to put this to bed, eh?You can rename any sound to any of the limited files available for AI. These reside in the Sound folder: You cannot tailor these to individual AI aircraft however.
October 11, 201213 yr No, you cannot alias sounds to AI aircraft - they will not use them. Only the files listed above will affect AI sounds, unless you use FSHotSFX or my (or other) effect sound files. Tom Gibson CalClassic Propliner Page
October 12, 201213 yr ON a slightly different tack, I tried doing some gliders for AI once, and couldn't bear the put-put sound they made. Now MS allowed for a Rocket engine option in the aircraft.cfg and I was quite happy to highjack that for a wind-noise glider. But they forgot to code a sound for it! so that idea went for nought... I wonder if anyone has ever found a silent AI glider?

I wonder if anyone has ever found a silent AI glider? If a silent AI glider glides in the sky where there is nowhere to hear it, does it make a sound? Sorry but it's been that kind of day! LOL Suggestion - try the Jenny and switch off the engine in flight. If you like the slipstream sound, see if you can isolate which wav files it's using and edit those into the sound cfg for the glider. Might be worth a try (I suggest the Jenny just because I know it has a very strong and distinct slipstream sound - another, aerodynamically cleaner aircraft might give you a better result Cheers Ian
October 12, 201213 yr does it make a sound? Well, no. It goes put-put... AS mentioned above, you cannot alias sounds to AI, they use a library mapped to the engine type used. You can replace the put-put with whispering wings, but then your 172s will glide serenely about the place also
October 12, 201213 yr Given that the default 172 sounds more like a sewing machine than a RW 172, that might not be such a bad thing! LOL
October 15, 201213 yr Author Thanks to all for the replies, guess I'm stuck along with all Fs9 users flying in the AI world. Robin
