July 7, 200421 yr Hi,I'd like to buy a photorealistic scenery but I can't decide on which scenery to buy. I read some reviews and according to most people, both sceneries are good. However, I think that Switzerland Professional looks a little bit greenish, compared to VFR Photographic sceneries which look more real as far as textures color is concerned. Switzerland Professional scenery looks more spectacular thanks to its various mountains and hills.I enjoy VFR flights but it's too difficult to choose ...According to you, which of these two sceneries is the best ?Thank you for your answers.;-)Damien - LFQQ.http://perso.club-internet.fr/udb/Cliparts/Avion.gif Damien.
July 7, 200421 yr Hiya Damien :)You really are asking a hard question as they both are great products, UK VFR especially so when you combine it with the UK Mesh and Gary Summons UK2000 airport scenery. I have both but if push came to shove I would choose Swiss Pro. Why? Well I just adore mountain flying and Switzerland's mountains beat anything in the UK hands down! You mentioned that you think the colours in Swiss Pro are too greenish. Well as someone who has flown over the real and the virtual Switzerland I can assure you Switzerland is a VERY green country but having said that you do need to reduce your visibility settings a tad to desaturate the colours of the scenery and produce a more natural effect and this is just as true with UK VFR as well. I generally fly around with my visibility set to between 20 - 30 miles and from my experience visibility in the real world rarely manages to exceed these figures. For a bit of fun I have put two pics together here, one taken over the real Switzerland and one over Swiss Pro:http://www.fsdinternational.net/janey/gene...ures/swiss2.jpg
July 7, 200421 yr Author Switzerland has those spectacular mountains, and in my opinion the textures and mesh are slightly better than what is available for the UK. The VFR Photographic scenery is cheaper, and also much larger (if you buy all volumes). Combined with VFR Terrain it does look very good. The fact that each volume is only about -
July 8, 200421 yr To my opinion UK Photographic Scenery even enhanced by meshes looks so flat in FS9. It misses 3D objects so much in comparison with what you have in default FS9. Add meshes and FSCene to the default scenery in say London and you wouldn't likely to use UK Photo anymore. It was ok in FS2002 it looked so new, but when I installed recently volume 1 of UK Photo (the one that also covers London) in FS9 I didn't like it at all. Textures and Meshes only without 3D objects look really dull in big cities, and the most interesting moments for me when I either take off or decend to land. Not even speaking here about enjoyment of VFR flying. So I had to remove VFR UK due to this from FS9. I'm very dissapointed with myself, I bought all 4 issues (at GBP 30+something each) and just don't use it in FS9. I also found recently there was a new product like VFR Terrain or similar for a part of UK that puts 3D objects like trees, houses and is fine to be used with VFR UK. I think this is the way to go for me. Please correct me if I'm wrong about it, I would like to have your comments here if you have tried it. Switzerland Professional seems to have textures, meshes and 3D objects and I'm thinking to buy it if I don't find any solution for my UK Photo experience in FS9.
July 8, 200421 yr Well, I've checked it there, VFR Terrain it's just a detailed mesh. There's RIAT Fairford Scenery is what I should look in to combine it with my VFR Photoreal.
July 9, 200421 yr Hi,Here is a review of Switzerland Professional : http://www.simflight.com/modules.php?name=...rticle&sid=5172 :-coolHave a good reading !:-yellow1Damien - LFQQ.http://perso.club-internet.fr/udb/Cliparts/Avion.gif Damien.

Take a look at a couple of screenshots on this site (Wales and London) and tell me if you still think UK Photo is flat!http://www.raysheppard.dsl.pipex.com/screenies.htmhttp://www.raysheppard.dsl.pipex.com/Autogen%20Trees.htmalso:-http://www.visualflight.co.uk/It could be you will reinstall with renewed enthusiasm
July 9, 200421 yr Forgot to add this remarkable string of screenshots from the new Fairford RIAT sceneryhttp://www.flightsimnetwork.com/dcforum/DC...mID8/44033.htmlShep
July 9, 200421 yr >Do these photorealistic sceneries take a toll on the frame>rates?Just flew from Farnborough to Valley in the Lear Jet at 230 knots, 3400ft, no clouds, vis40mile and apart from flying over Fairford RIAT (18fps scenery dense, autogen max, spot view)the frame rates were always 50 - 60 as the screenshot shows. My self built system spec AMD3200, 1gigTwinMos dualC memory, Radeon 9700 Pro, Maxtor7200 HDD, 22" CRT Monitor 1600x1200x32, AAx4, AFx16 Performance, MipMap detail Level - High Quality, Texture Preference - High Quality.I must add that it was the VFR Photo scenery and VFR Terrain that gave me renewed interest in FS2004 and since installing that superb combination all default FS2004 scenery, IMHO, looks very inferior and dated.Shep
