Samuli's MD-80 panel shuts down my engines when I am on final

Featured Replies

The subject says it all.Sometimes it shuts down one, sometimes none, and sometimes I have a bunch of people praying in the cabin when both engines die.The engines don't let me start them again, so normally the problem ends up being a disaster.Surely there's some setting that I am missing. Thanks,Leo

I too had a lot of problems with that panel. I switched to Leon Seale's FS9 upgrades of the great Paul Golding MD80 and MD87 panels and since then, no problems whatsoever!Lee

I have flown a lot of MD-80 panels, and the only one makes me feel interested in flying the MD-80s is Samuli's.I would prefer to solve the problem instead of just throwing it to the garbage. Thanks,Leo

I didn't have the problem at the beginning. After months of using the panel the problem just started, but I am really willing to give this great panel as many chances as necessary until it works fine.If I had to through the panel to the garbage it would go together with the MD-80, because I am not interested in flying this AC with any other panel.Leo

Only a guess as I don't have that panel but it sounds as though fuel is being cut off for some reason. If the fuel valves are closed I think it is not possible to start the engines. I can't think of any other reason that the engines could not be started.

Leo,Do you start the MD-80 engines following procedures or just do CTRL+E? I noticed that I do not have the problem when I start the engines following complete procedures, but I do when I use CTRL+E. Perhaps something in the sequence is not activated when using the auto start. In my case, the engines shut off when I bring up the trotle panel. Great panel to have, best I've seen for MDs. Well, the engines are already on when I start the flight. Maybe I should turn everything off and restart everything?Leo

Nope, the feeders are on, but anyway the engines don't start (?).Leo

Actually..now I come to think of it..I did have a problem with the throttle panel.... but I completely re-edited Samulis panel ages ago...thinking even more...think my problem was the spoilers ..not that that is any help to you. :( http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83165.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/83167.jpg[email protected]

Hey Ed, you did that? It's Samuli's panel even better.Any way I might get those changes? Please.About my problem. Do you think that if I use the spoilers the engines would shut down. I don't remember if I did or if I didn't but it is very much possible, and makes sense, since it happens some times, but some it doesn't.ThanksLeo

Hi Leo,Can you give me the filename for this panel? I searched at the AVSIM library under *MD8* and got some panels but none with the author "Samuli".Thanks,Bruce.

ASEL, Instrument.

Bruce:It is not in Avsim, that's why you can't find it.Do a search in Google writing Samuli MD-80 or Samuli MD80. That's the way I got, don't remember the web though.Leo
