October 14, 201213 yr I've been trying to edit the aircraft.cfg in FSX (Acceleration, etc.) on my Windows7 64-bit system but am unable to save the .cfg file: I get the prompt for administrator permissions, then the explorer window with the .cfg file and the option to "save", and, after clicking "save", I get the message "Access Denied". I'm logged on with adminstrator permissions and have the user account control set at the second highest level. I'd be interested in knowing the experiences of other members in managing aircraft.cfg files in FSX on a Windows7 64-bit system. Thanks! Barry, KSAN

Barry, KSAN you probably got it to set to read only uncheck the read option best bet is turn of uac as its a pain in the &@($* when downloading addons etc I7-8700k,Corsair h1101 cooler ,Asus Strix Gaming Intel Z370 S11 motherboard, Corsair 32gb ramDD4,, gtx 1080ti Card, RM850 power supply Peter kelberg
October 14, 201213 yr Author Well, on further examination of the "properties" menu, I discovered that the .cfg files had been "blocked" for editing since they came "from another computer and might pose a risk". I unblocked it and I can edit now. I just checked the rest of the .cfg files and they all appear to have been "unblocked". This information was at the both of the general tab, to the right of the "read only" and "hidden" boxes. I also had turned off UAC ... I find that I have to run addons to FSX as administrator to get them to function, e.g., FSInn, MyAAS, etc. But the test version of FSTramp didn't require admin perms. Anyway, thanks for pushing me to investigate further! Barry, KSAN
October 14, 201213 yr I had this problem and it drove me nuts!.. For me it was because i installed fsx in ''c:\programe files\Microsoft\Microsoft games\FSX'' The programe files on win7 are protected to stop the user breaking something thats required to run a program (I.E: edit a programe configuration, like what you were tryin to do). The longterm answer is to install FSX outside of programe files...ex: C:\FSX. Regards Luke M
