October 17, 201213 yr Also. Please guys, what do you mean when you say "art assets" Art assets refer to a variety of items available for autogen and scenery. From textures to models, art assets are the things you see out the window of your airplane above and beyond the contours of the ground and water. More art assets would mean more variety for autogen and textures beyond the seemingly limited library we have now. These additional assets will actually support the plausible nature of the scenery in XP10 rather than take away from it like it does today. In short, an enriched visual experience keeping with the goals of the improvements intended for this platform. The lack of art assets was acknowledged by Laminar Research in the very early days of the XP10 release, but we've seen limited steps towards these improvements. With the 64-bit platform now on the horizon, the memory and system limitations which may have held back some of these items will then be officially a non-issue, so many of us sightseers have ever increasing hopes that the platform will start to challenge its competition in this respect. Here's to hoping... -Greg

Very true, and if well done guys like me, who do not ask for much in that particular area, wouçd probably even drop using OSM and keep the default autogen / objects provided the plausibility was enough... October 17, 201213 yr You are aware there will be no other feature than 64 bits in XP 10.20, aren't you ?
October 17, 201213 yr Yep! Pretty much aware of that, but also aware of Austin having said that we could start asking for what we wanted to see after the release of 10.20, and I do have a long lits (a lot longer than the one above :-) ) Flying gliders since 1980 Flightsimming since 1992 AMD Ryzen 5600x, 32GB RAM, GPU Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti 8 GB, 1 TB and 500 GB nvme2 SSD drives, HP 27" 60Hz LED monitor @ 1920x1080, T16000, Hotas from old X52 Pro, Saitek Combat Rudder Pro (2010 model)

October 18, 201213 yr I want XP10 to not take 20,000 hours to do a complete reinstall. Lol. All I ask. Make it easy and I will switch. Hmm, I find it odd that you say that. Only in comparison to another popular product. an FSX install is 1-2 days minimum. For XPX you could literally just keep a backup of the Xplane folder and you're good to go. I just installed a new hard-drive and had to re-do my whole flight sim from the OS up, which is why I say this. With XPX it's just moving folders around, with FSX it's reinstalling tons of individual installers(I have a lot of Orbx and other stuff). Actually I have not gotten around to reinstalling FSX because I don't have the time.
October 19, 201213 yr As far as additional art assets, I just hope they keep in mind more than previously that the predominate color in the world is not gray. A quick glance at the broad palette available in almost any Orbx scenery would be informative. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... To the rest of the Universe atomically. October 19, 201213 yr Further to my initial list... - Actualy cloud layer thickness is presently restricted to a minimum of 2000', independent of the cloud type! This is even worse than what I stated... We should be able to set cloud thcikness down to at least 50' intervals... - Auto-tunning of COM radios, and maybe even xpdr, as an option. X-Plane panels for someone without track-ir are difficult to navigate accross while manually flying an aircraft, specially under bad ( IMC ) weather conditions... - A flightplan marked on the Map window should be available for storing. We could "design" the flightplan using the map and then it would get available for ATC and GPS :-) - Additional freezing malfunctions: at least pitot drain tube independently from the dynamic port. Different scenarios can happen when pitots, dynamic or static and the drain, get obstructed... October 19, 201213 yr Author - A flightplan marked on the Map window should be available for storing. We could "design" the flightplan using the map and then it would get available for ATC and GPS :-) Good one, like Plan G. I would like also to have more options to the startup sim screen like the ability to choose the aircraft livery and the airport runway and/or ramp start. Cheers, Alexander Colka
October 21, 201213 yr let me know when they have winter textures, and 3d like FSX then we are talking. Art Assests can be resolved just put a 3d editor built into Xplane-10, make it easy to add our own objects. Sure, there is plenty of improvements can be made but all leave it the pros on this one.
October 21, 201213 yr Author OpenSceneryX include tons of very good objects and it's growing. Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk 2 Alexander Colka
October 21, 201213 yr OpenSceneryX include tons of very good objects and it's growing. (Going a smidge off the topic...) No doubt, but Laminar Research has already stated that their eventual implementation of crowdsourced* airports will be limited to scenery elements native to X-Plane - no addon libraries or extras will be allowed. This rules out OpenSceneryX and any other addon scenery elements which may be in use today. Most of us looking for better art assets are talking initially about the autogen and related items as seen in the sim. As a potential airport designer, I too would LOVE to have more assets in the native library when designing an airport because I want my work to be fully sharable when the crowdsourced model comes into being. I've avoided using OpenSceneryX for the time being, in the hopes that at least more essentials will make it to the default package. (Coming back on the topic...) Ultimately, I guess what I am looking for out of 10.20 x64 is for it to happen FAST, so the development team can get cracking on putting the "plausibility" in the plausible world! * - For those not familiar with the plans, crowdsourced airport scenery is the concept where we submit WED designed airports to a central database with buildings, objects, and facades, and they eventually make it to the updater where all users get them as part of the native package. It's similar to how Robin updates the airport layouts today, but inclusive of 3D items.
October 24, 201213 yr What i'd like to see in v10.20? A single skyscraper model, used in metropolitan cities. I'm not kidding, even if there was only 1 single monolithic rectangle repeated a hundred times in Tokyo, Hong Kong or New York, it would still be infinitely better than the suburban villages we get today. I feel this is something they need to fix asap. I can wait for variety models and unique landmarks, but i can not accept little 2-story family houses to represent the biggest cities of the world. It's abysmal. There are already a few skyscraper models in the game, why they simply are not repeated in the cores of these cities is a mystery to me. Yeah it'd look slightly odd to see the same handful of models repeated next to eachother. But you know what looks even more odd? Seeing Hong Kong looking like a fishing village.
October 24, 201213 yr You and me both. This is one of the biggest problems with xpx at the moment. I would like to see some nice high buildings. Skickat från min GT-I9300 via Tapatalk 2 Richard 7950x3d | 32Gb 6000mHz RAM | 8Tb NVme | RTX 4090 | MSFS | P3D | XP12
October 24, 201213 yr Author Talking about buildings and autogen, there are many areas where streets are placed but no houses, is there a way of populating those areas? Thanks, Alexander Colka
