I've followed that guide, its very good... is there anywhere I can view other peoples FSX.CFG files to compare?

 

99% of users [with good computers] follow Word Not Allowed's guide so among many users here, there is little variation in the CFGs.

Thanks for all the help Ben, I've also turned on AA within FSX and i'm now getting some really sweet visuals in GEX with addon scenery. I am struggling still to get large airports to run smooth free, so I will overclock to 4GHz next month I think.

 

I notice the Use Bloom Effect literally kills FPS, is there any real reason for this? I love the effect it gives but the performance drop off is huge, is there an alternative?

Using the bloom effect is only practical for people using DX10... In DX9 it destroys performance. Also, overclocking will significantly improve your performance.

ok noticed thanks, any reason why ticking DX10 is like halfing my frames?

Im a bit wary of OCing my CPU, but i think 4ghz should be ok with a decent cooler, I know some people go to 4.5 without any problems however

Actually I've just found it, I did not even know this existed thanks I will have a read through as I really like the bloom effect but to change 25fps to 15 is not practical right now, so hope the forum can offer some help!
