iPad Mini or Win8 Tablet?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I am seriously considering selling my iPad2 and using the money+some earned cash to upgrade to a newer more powerful tablet.

I am leaning towards the iPad mini BUT, I am very intrigued by the new Win8 Tablets... I am still undecided and I would appreciate some input.

BTW, Please don't turn this into a MS vs Apple Flame-war....

Thanks,

Well, the iPad mini will be just that, a miniature iPad. Now, that aside it'll be easier to carry, use with one hand, etc. Althought maybe with less screen apps will run a little more fluidly.IMHO, the thing looks kind of pricey for its supposed size.

Now, the Surface will be bigger, but have that interesting perk of a full USB port and the desktop version of Windows...But it is a little more costly, with that touchpad thing costing another 100 bucks...so around 500 bucks.

If you're looking for power though, then that Surface will probably be your best bet once the more powerful ones come out. I wouldn't really consider an iPad mini an upgrade either...

By the way Ben, if you did sell that iPad, how much would you be in the market for? Just wondering...

From what I read the iPad mini will feel like a downgrade. It feels cheaper. The software on win8 tablets sucks hardcore. Keep what you have or sell it and upgrade to iPad 4th generation. Enjoy the retina display and Siri as well as improved cameras. Enjoy the software you already own.

I actually have wanted a smaller iPad all along. When I came into the market for a tablet 4 months ago, I was interested in the Samsung Galaxy Tab mainly due to it's size. - But the Android software on it steered me away and that is how I ended up on the 2nd gen iPad.

I was eagerly awaiting the official news of the iPad mini this week and was very interested in purchasing. However after seeing the features and $329 price it was a serious let-down. The $329 Wi-Fi only model does not even have a GPS http://news.cnet.com...imilar-tablets/ . While I am sure it is a good tablet, I think there are better options in the 7" form out there for less money. I am going to get the Nexus 7 which is still the leader in 7" form factor in my opinion. Rumors are they are releasing a 32GB Nexus 7 next Monday for $249. We will see.

If you don't need the smaller 7" form, keep what you have in the IPad2, it is still a very good tablet.

I would pick a Windows 8 tablet over the iPad, but way before that I'd pick something Android any day. I love my Transformer Infinity. Quad core, 1080P with the Nvidia Tegra3 chipset and it plays any video or music file you can throw at it.
