FSX OOM api.dll patcher

Recommended Posts

Hi,

First of all thanks a lot for giving us some hope. FSX isn't dead even if technology is improving.

I tried the patch in the post # 6. I have FSX ACC, Win 7 64 pro, i7 3930K OC4.25, 16go RAM, AMD Radeon 7900 with 3Go ram (3 screens).

it works fine except by one scenery which is as far as I know the most demanding one due to the new 3D Automation technology used by FranceVFR (http://www.francevfr...ct_vfralsx2.htm). There I still have systematic crash, whatever fast or slow plane I use, which is not due to memory, but to other problems I can't identify.

I just wanted to throw in my two-cents and wanted to remind everyone that Pete Dowson has an OOM Check in his FSUIPC4.dll. Here's a quote from the manual -

OOMcheck

FSUIPC4 operates a check on the amount of process memory remaining free. It warns of a potential "Out Of Memory" crash (OOM), hopefully, giving time to avoid it, or at least saving a flight in case. The warning is two Windows error/warning beeps, plus explanatory messages in the FSUIPC4 log file. This warning occurs when the total remaining free process memory in FSX is less than 250 Mbytes (I found this to be just about sufficient to do something). You can turn off this warning by changing OOMcheck=Yes to No in the FSUIPC4.INI file.

Best regards,

Jim

I am very eager to get hold of a copy of this patch, unfortunately when following the link by the original poster I am encountering an FBI warning and way of downloading.

Very grateful if anyone can help.

Thanks

From my understanding, it does not work.  Since this topic was published, there have been several topics and posts regarding OOM's and the API.dll, even modified, cannot get rid of the cause(s) of OOM's.  You have 4GB's of VAS in a 64 bit OS with 32 bit games.  If this was really a fix, it would have been posted throughout the Internet as a major fix for FSX as thousands are suffering from OOM's.  So, turn down your settings, run only those sceneries you need to run, and go fly.

Hello , can You Send To me This File Because This Link don't work.

Regards,

As I stated just a few posts above yours, the file is no longer available and those who have tried the modified api.dll are still having problems. There is no magic bullet for OOM's.
