July 15, 200421 yr Both freeware and payware. Many are promised but I seem to spend a lot of time checking to see if aircraft have been released. Some have been due for several months. Not complaining(well maybe I am a little :)) Just an observation. John
July 15, 200421 yr Seems to be a trap alot of people fall into, just fly the ones that are available, there are plenty of decent planes out there.I think that alot of people lose sight of what FS is all about, there seems to be a big portion of the community that are just interested in the "latest and greatest", rather than just flying the thing :-lol , shame really as there are many great, great planes already out there.CheersDan.
July 15, 200421 yr Not really a problem for me Dan. I do more than my fair share of flying (mostly Fanda Dash 8 and the Connie from Super Constellation Flyers). Just that all the interesting forthcoming releases seem to be taking forever to materialize. John
July 15, 200421 yr I suspect that as most people are no longer sastified with aircraft that are on the level of the default planes and demand more advanced features and flight models, the developement time gets longer and longer. Same with scenery, I would guess. John
July 15, 200421 yr A lot of people are probably enjoying their summer away from the computer. Probably be more available in the fall, besides gives me more time to save some money to buy more add-ons.
July 15, 200421 yr I agree Dan, I just take what is given' me and fly. I probably won't jump at the PSS 50% discount they are running now 'cause I'm happy with the GREAT iFDG 'ABuses and I also have my own favourite panel (Roy Chaffin's A320 panel w/ Tony D'Ambrosio's RealCRT guages... I am in no way affiliated with their work) to go with it. So, again, I just bide my time and just take it as it comes. One happy simmer,Tom i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
July 15, 200421 yr "If it doesn't have a VC, I won't be flying it."Not me, I'll take the frames on my outdated rig, thank you...LOL!:-lol Regards,Tom i913900KF (5.8GHz) | Case: Fractal PopAir RGB I Gigabyte Z790 UD AX| MSI Gaming RTX 4070Ti Super 16GB | Kingston Fury Beast 64GB DDR5 5200Mhz | SOLIDIGM P41 Plus 2TB NVMe M.2 SSD | Samsung SSD 870 EVO 2TB | Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 MM Liquid Cooling | LG EVO 42" Monitor 3840 x 2160 120Hz | Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo | Logitech G Pro pedals | Tobii EyeTracker | 850W Thermaltake 80+ GOLD |
July 15, 200421 yr I agree about the summer thing. It seems there is a big push during the spring to get as much out as possible. Then it picks up again during the fall and winter.Enjoy what you have and be thankful. I know I am.:D
July 15, 200421 yr I bet you just take a look at every new 'plane and then move on, eh, John?Nothing wrong with that. I used to be a download junkie and my drive is crammed with every aircraft known to man. But more recently, I have striven to concentrate on one aircraft and get to know it really well; much, perhaps, as a real world pilot has to do if he wants to get type-rated for that machine. Luckily for me, I chose the DC-3, because not only is it one of the aircraft with the most fascinating histories of all but also a joy - and a real learning curve - to fly well. With 170 repaints of the default and endless modifications, I've plenty of choice! Then came the new MAAM-SIM aircraft, and if heaven is at 5,000' AGL I think I've found it.Not to mention, the fantastic community you get into when you concentrate on one marque, as I have found in the various DC-3 societies, ex- and present pilots of DC-3s, and DC-3 Airways.Yes, I still fly other things, of course. But I think you get my point. There are so many magnificent freeware downloads already available that even if I flew one a day that I have not flown properly yet, it would take me months. And to fly them well? Forget it, I'd be grey.Mark "Dark Moment" BeaumontVP FleetDC-3 Airwayshttp://www.swiremariners.com/newlogo.jpg _________________________ Mark "Dark Moment" Beaumont VP Fleet, DC-3 Airways Team Member, MAAM-SIM
July 15, 200421 yr I posted this thread the other day, although with all the active threads to browse response has been a bit slow... Anyway, I hope to release her soon--I've been working hot and heavy to finish the Eclipse which is a light jet scheduled for certification in two years--it's currently going through flight testing in New Mexico. Other than the Citation Mustang, it's likely going to be the chief contender in the light jet market. Also, Dreamwings Design is on the verge of releasing the Embraer 135/145. I suspect I'm one of the holdups, as I am doing the FDE for that aircraft series and nightly T-storms have kept me off my computer. I'm working out fuel burn and loadouts for both aircraft, but them I am done. Here's a link to my project...http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...d=200766&page=1And visit Dreamwings Design here...www.dreamwingsdesign.com-John
July 15, 200421 yr Ron,That's the worst news I could have ever heard. When I bought the CJ-2, my wife took one glance at the credit card bill, and her eyes rolled back so far, I almost called 911 :)You guys need to make an arrangement so that your purchases appear on CC bills as "Food and Beverage" or perhaps "Eagle's Deli"...That will make us husbands safe from "wife scorn trauma" Are you doing the current CJ-1 with the T-tail? That aircraft looks quite slick...-John
July 15, 200421 yr I don't see the trend reversing itself anytime soon. It seems to me that the bar for quality brand-new a/c has been raised so high that the time that it now takes to create a new beast-that is feature packed to satisfy our ravenous appetites (along with the tendency for some to gripe excessively if all angles are not covered)- would cause authors (freeware esp) to produce less projects. IMHOI hope I'm wrong, but I think it's an interesting point to ponder.
July 15, 200421 yr If that is true, then it will take us a lot longer to learn to fly the thing and we will need less aircraft. Why fill your hanger with a bunch planes you don't plan to fly. Actually I am to the point now where it has to be pretty fantabulous for me to want to take the time to download and install it, let a lone purchase them, but with so much to choose from, it allows a person to be discriminate. That I don't think is a bad thing.
July 15, 200421 yr John, I think you meant the CII/SP....hope she was ok after the shock wore off:-) :-)Yes the CJ1 is the T Tail version:-)
