737 Evo Nose Wheel Steering modelled or not?

Featured Replies

Is it modelled? It doesn't seem to turn. I recall seeing nose wheel turning on a promo video (i think). Ant ideas?

Thanks.

I think you need a tiny bit of forward speed to see the turning in FSX.

Thanks. I went away and tried (up to 25 kts) but still no movment. So I presume it should move then?

I must admit, I've never looked at it from the outside, but the movement itself (plane starts to turn) always starts with some forward motion. Below a certain value, your plane already rolls forward but doesn't turn. I get this with all planes in FSX, so that thing must be a general character trait.

I will check the Wilco's animated nose wheel the next time.

But can you check if you have advanced animations enabled in the default FSX options? I could think of it being the reason for missing animations on addon planes. That's at the graphics tab.

Hi CoolIP. Thanks for the info. I can confirm that the advanced animation is enabled. I remember where I saw the animation now and it was a you tube video before I purchased it. If you check out the video below and skip to 1:35 you will see nosewheel steering is animated. It does not work for me at any speed range and on any wilco evo aircraft. It does work on other add-ons that I have installed.

Did I already welcome you to the forums by the way? If not, welcome. Please excuse the delay.

On the topic, I've just loaded her and, while parked, stood on the rudder pedals. The wheel is moving, even with the parked plane. So I'm running out of options. If you say that your other planes are working, I couldn't tell where the problem is. Does the rest of the plane work for you?

Perhaps write to Wilco. They have that support webpage and do answer stuff. I wrote to them in the past. Just scroll all the way down. http://www.wilcopub....icalassistance/

That's a great video by the way.

Hi CoolP,

Sorry for the delay. Thanks for the welcome and for confirming that it should work. I have contacted Wilco and am awaiting a reply.

I the meantime I might uninstall/reinstall to see if that works. Just as a quick thought, I steer the aircraft via my joystick or yoke, could the steering be activated by other means such as key commands? I don't know how to steer via keyboard.

Thanks again.

That's a good question. I was steering with my pedals but I think any rudder axis assignment should word.

I've also checked if there's a difference between loading the plane 'ready to go' or cold and dark. There is not, the steering always worked.

Sorry for the delay in getting back but I have been waiting on Wilco. I contacted Wilco and they said uninstall and reinstall as administrator (which I am 95% certain I did originally). I did as they asked but it did not solve the issue.

I replied to them with the lack of success but they have not got back in over a week.

I wonder if it could be a corrupted download file and therefore would it be worth trying Just Flight who I purchased it from?

I doubt that a corruption causes those types of error. But it's worth a shot to download again, yes.
