Will Reality XP gns 430 waas xp work in V35B

Recommended Posts

Hi: Was just trying to see if the reality XP gns430 waas xp can be installed into the v35b virtual cockpit just using the supplied reality xp config. editor? Has anyone done this, and if so have any problems been encountered? Just checking before purchasing the gns430... Thanks... Al

Hi Al,

Has anyone done this, and if so have any problems been encountered?

I know there were some posts about putting it into the F33 and I think there are a few who've done it for the V35, but I can't offer any direct advice, because...

In order to put it in the panel, the first thing you have to do is disable 3D knobs and I just don't like that tradeoff. What I do in the V35 is use the RXP gauge as a popup only. It's a tradeoff and I wish I could have a full 3D integrated setup as I do in all of my other planes that use the 430 and/or 530, but it works reasonable well.

I have it. Like Scott says, one should turn the 3D knobs off then. But it works and looks a bit flat, yes.

The RXP tool only adds a 2D popup and creates the RXPGNX.INI. For a VC integration, you have to work manually. Lets see. Looks like this.

[Vcockpit04]
Background_color=0,0,0
size_mm=512,512
visible=0
pixel_size=1024,1024
texture=$Panel_bon_4

gauge00=rxpGNS!GNS430, 6,125,480,266
gauge01=BVT5!vs, 262,394,236,106
gauge02=BVT5!DME_screen, 3,396,256,100
gauge03=BVT5!Panel_annuanciator, 266,37,243,90
//gauge04=BVT5!Toggle_GPS, 116,160,275,169
gauge05=BVT5!Auto_taxi_onoff, 0,0,30,24

See the gauge00 line? That's where the Carendo GPS was and got replaced by the RXP gauge.

This simple replacement works quite often on Carenado planes. And you will always find folks which already performed that step. So you can always ask. Unfortunately, this also means that 3D knobs do interfere more or less, hence the need to turn them off.

Later models feature an extra 3D model for the RXP gauges and a tool to automate the switching.

Do you need to similarly edit the reference to the carenado gps in [window 1]

[Window01]

Background_color=0,0,0

size_mm=500,266

window_size_ratio=1.000

position=0

visible=0

ident=794

window_size= 0.250, 0.177

window_pos= 0.010, 0.805

zorder=0

gauge00=BVT5!Toggle_GPS,  35,69,329,246

gauge01=CarenadoG430!GNS430_nc1,  0,0,500,266

gauge02=BVT5!Toggle_GPS,  127,45,242,153

Thanks!
