HDD's Best Defrag Software?

Hi All,

 

Just trying to get a handle on what people think is the best defrag software?

 

From what I've read the most highly regarded in no particular order seem to be O&O Defrag, PerfectDisk, Diskeeper and the free Defraggler.

 

I'm not sure how much of a difference if any there is in the effectiveness of these different programs.

 

What's your experience? Or do you use something different?

For the longest time, I was under the impression that OO Defrag was the best (as suggested by NickNs tweaking guide) but now that I am on SSD, I don't have to worry about that anymore. I suggest to google up NickN FSX Guide and go from there.

I'd had a bit of a read through there already and saw that OO Defrag seemed to be the way to go, but curious what others were using.

OO Defrag was my choice. It still is for other drives, but like Efrain, SSD here for Windows, so not really defragging that often.

SSD here for Windows too, but need to defrag my FSX drive. Hopefully will go SSD for FSX in the not too distant future.

 

Also just trialling Windows 8 on my test system. Can't tell if I liik it or not yet. It looks pretty neat but it just works "different".

Two main reasons for Nick recommending O&O and they still apply to HDD.

 

1) O&O does a better defrag - less wasted space

2) least intrusive footprint when running FSX - equates to smoother operation.

 

This does NOT mean that the other defraggers do not work, just that O&O works better.

I think I'll just stick with O&O then.
