This seemed to solve the problem for me...

Went into Control Panel / Devices /

My Saitek 52 was displayed - so I right clicked on the SAITEK X52 icon and selected "Troubleshoot"

Windows found that the controller needed fixed, so I let it fix it.

Seems to work now.

ALthough I will say that I download the Win7/8 profiler program and drivers first from the SAITEK Support Web Site and installed them; then restarted the computer; then did the control panel - troubleshoot option.

Hope this helps guys!

I have had my X52 go unresponsive while flying ( usually it is Captain Sim planes) and I crtl-alt-delete into task manager and it seems to fix it. Ill have to try to reassign joystick numbers to see if that is a permanent fix.

I did it, and it successfully fixed the issue. However, the problem still reappears mid flight

I changed the entry Joysticks=1 to Joysticks=2 and it never failed again\

Where did you change the entry?

I am also experiencing this issue, already tried 2 joysticks and all kinds of settings. What is strange that I am using Windows 8 and FSX since the day Windows 8 came out (October 26th) and I never had this issues up until 1 or 2 weeks ago. I didn't perform any system changes. I hope that this will get fixed in Windows 8...
