July 29, 200421 yr "could it be somehow related to australia being on the other side of the dish? like, flapped warriors pitch up over here and down over there? just wondering...":-) :-) :-) Greg
July 29, 200421 yr OK, I went to airliners.net and yes, the real Warrior panel is that ugly. I wasn't trying to start a hostile thread (they all end up that way by themselves). That's why I phrased it in the form of a question (I should be on Jeopardy!). I wanted someone who has actually been in a Warrior (you are correct I have not) to comment. For MY TASTE, it is a very plain panel (which it appears they have modeled precisely). Still would like to see some full-size screenshots (I hate when they use those little pop-ups on their sites). At any rate, I love you all and would like to have you over for dinner. I could always pay someone to clean up after the food fight. EddieKABQ EddieKABQ
July 29, 200421 yr >Barry-> Usually if you are going a bit fast, and you put down a>notch of flaps, the Warrior tends to pitch up. We have>learned to anticipate this by pitching down ahead of time, so>things do not get sloppy. Also, the pitch up can happen>during any of the Warrior's 3 notch flap settings. If you put>out the proper notch of flaps at the right speed, the aircraft>will not pitch up or down, but it will slow it down due to the>increased drag, and it appears as though the plane is pitching>down. Hope this clears things up.Okay everyone............... :)Does the nose actually pitch up with flap deployment, or does it just want to climb? It's been 10 years since I flew Warriors & Archers a lot, but it was always the Cessnas that noticeably pitched nose up. I originally trained in the Warrior and was suprised to encounter the nose pitching up in the Cessna, but I was forwarned by the flight instructor. The RV6A will pitch down, which gives a good view of the runway. And I didn't even pay attention with the low wing Diamond Star I flew a few weeks ago, so I'll also assume it doesn't pitch nose up like the Cessna either. When this debate arose with the Meridian, I checked flight reviews which said nose down with flap deployment.L.Adamson
July 29, 200421 yr I think most high-wing aircraft will pitch up because the center of lift is above the center of gravity and this is a natural response to the additional drag created by flap deployment. This was the case with my Maule. And of course just the opposite for low wing aircraft but perhaps less pronounced due to a slightly shorter moment arm.
July 29, 200421 yr LarryWhether an aircraft pitches up or down is more relative to the flap/wing design than a high wing low wing phenomina.Normally the earlier stages of flap pitch up because they are the lift stages while later stages are more drag than lift and the effect is more like the rudder on direction.Certain flap designs create little lift. Cessna flaps cause a lot of lift and hence their tendancy to pitch up.Peter
July 29, 200421 yr >1280x960x32- thats friggin huge.. have you tried lowering the resolution to see what its like- or getting glasses?????I run on that resolution, also, thank you very much. As for glasses I don't need them, either.
July 29, 200421 yr L.Adamson....Piper Flyer is a fully qualified Private Pilot. He has many hours in the Piper Warrior. I think he would know what happens with flaps extended! Cheers,RyanProfessional Coffee Drinker/BAe146 DriverAircraft Maintenance Engineer
July 29, 200421 yr Peter,I suppose I could ask about the Seneca then. What does it tend to do, flap & pitch wise? Was going to ask earlier but didn't have the time.L.Adamson
July 29, 200421 yr >L.Adamson....>>Piper Flyer is a fully qualified Private Pilot. He has many>hours in the Piper Warrior. I think he would know what happens>with flaps extended!Me too. I soloed in a Warrior, but it's been a long time. And at least 12 years since I've flown one.But quite honestly, I quickly upgraded to the Archer, because I liked it's additional performance in high altitude mountainous areas.
July 29, 200421 yr Commercial Member >Some which I have tried and thought were a load of junk but>refrained from saying so to keep the peace ;-)Well, there's a true gentleman if ever I saw one, who considers peace among the more important issues.Mind you I am not against expressing a contrary opinion if it's done with common courtesy. I think though that some folks obviously have allegiences to certain products/developers and cannot resist the temptation of putting the boot into a competing product with such lightweight arguments as making unfavourable comparisons suggesting (based on imagination) there was not as many man hours going into a product. So can anyone give us some proper info here about this ACFT package, only George below has offered any details. July 30, 200421 yr GridleyNo you have not hit a nerve at all. I was just trying to make an emphatic point- I want to see if those who are whinging can make a better one on their own in the same time frame. Then I want to see how much of the petty little complaints get thrown back at them.LadamsonHave you flown a real archer? Last time I did it pitched up. Heck even one of my instructors with hundreds of hours in the archer commented on this. Also, if
July 30, 200421 yr Piper Flyer... most here realize that there is no coincidence that you registered at this forum the same day this product was released. Would you mind telling all of us just what your association is with the product?Since you are still going to school allow me to contribute to your education... you'll not get many folks to accept your arguements by offending them. And if you are the developer of this product, you'll not get many buyers with your current attitude.Good luck,Greg
