Sweet FX

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I played a while with switching on and off video settings between my ATI Catalyst and the internal FS9 display setup. Didn't manage to get a difference. Then I realized that there should be something else making the problem and found this is the sharpening - the Luma Sharpen in SweetFX particularly. After decreasing the strength of the effect and playing for a while I got to a good result and now Im satisfied. I will post some more good pictures soon.

Can you give your config please?

Not a problem. Here is what effects I have enabled.

I tried this and with nothing selected my frames dropped from

27 to 9 which was quite unacceptable so I'll just have to stay

without it. Seems the dll's don't agree with me.

I've an old system by todays standard:

Intel Core 2 Extreme QX6850 Processor 3.5GHz

BFG GeForce 8800 GTS

Crucial Ballistix Tracer 4GB SDRAM DDR2 1066

I have a pretty similar computer - GeForce GTS 250 is the only major difference it looks like - and I have no such issues.

You may have some software issue, like ENB Bloom trying to run in the background.

(It's a pig to kill once on your system)

No, I don't have ENB bloom, but I will look for what else may

be running. I'd thought I'd cleaned that up but evidently not.

Thanks,

Jim

Nice this SweetFX, but it only works for me in windowed mode.

How can you get it to run in full screen ?

Thanks

Not knowing what your system is...

The SweetFX bits need to go in the FS root folder, if that's any help.

I have WIN XP SP3 and nVidia nHancer and it ONLY works fullscreen.

Windowed it produces a "Solarised" effect as the Windows drivers kick in.

Interesting but not something I'd want in the sim.

Hey man, today I was just having the same problem.

I unchecked anti aliasing in FS9 settings and that seemed to fix it. Don't know why that is?

Hi,

I installed it, with a suggested setting from this topic, and it works great. Crystal clear and sharp pictures. FS9 is re-alive. Smooth and no FPS hits.

Glad it worked for you... it changed my sim completely.

Digressing slightly, the way light is handled makes a huge difference to the look of the sim, as this topic suggests.

Apparently P3Dv2 uses the same dreadful "washed out" texture set as Effeh Sex, but uses different injectors in post-processing to make it look absolutely amazing, out of the box.

Interested in FS9 settings as well. When I tried dome while back, I was getting random OOM at dawn and sunset.

Hi,

I used the settings of Ironbird (see post before). FS9 for me is as new as it gets. Will post a screenshot later.

Just upgraded from 1.4 to version 1.5.1.  I have to say, I'm impressed with the improved performance.  FS9 looks even better now than it did yesterday.  Thanks for this great little utility!!

Cheers,

Jeff
