Dual monitor flashing black screen

Featured Replies

Hi I have 2x GeForce GTX 580 SLI setup and 2 Monitors, 1 Dell UltraSharp U3011 30” and 1 Gateway XHD3000 monitor. My MB is the Asus P9X79, 8GB RAM, Windows7 64Bit.

I use my system predominantly for Photoshop and Microsoft's FSX which I have setup twice on the same computer, once on a 120GB SSD and another (newer fresh installed version) installed on a 500GB SSD because the smaller 120 GB SSD is almost full.

The problem I am having, results from my attempt to use FSX's in full screen, extended display, 2D mode. I use the second monitor to display instrument panels in 2D mode.

My older installation works fine in all configurations and modes.(both installations have the same Version Nvidia GPU driver installed). The newly installed FSX version runs perfect with the exception of starting in full screen with 2 monitors.

When I enable full screen mode, if I don't get a blank display on the secondary monitor, I get an odd mix of flashing half black and the other half I see my background picture flashing intermittently black. The primary monitor flashes black, audio I hear that FSX is running and for a split second I can see for e.g. PMDG MD 2D cockpit panel, but for the most part the Primary screen stays black.

Nothing severe, but the worst annoyance is not being able to use both monitors

I hope someone is able to relate and possible provide some advise or maybe there’s someone having a similar experiences lets compare notes.

Thanks in advance

Problem Solved: In FSX, Settings -Display->Graphic Tab->Devices. You’ll see GPU .0 and GPU .1 if you are using dual GPU’s as I am. The problem was that I had the second GPU .1 setup incorrectly. (Resolution, Filtering and Anit-aliasing.) I changes all the settings to correspond with GPU .1 now everything works fine no more flashing black screen.
