RealAir Beechcraft Duke B60...multiplayer fix?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, as many of you may know, the beautiful RealAir Beechcraft Duke B60 is not very multiplayer friendly. Here's a link to some screenshots if you are not familiar with this plane: http://realairsimulations.com/duke09/screenshots08.php?page=duke09_screenshots

On our server over at msflights.net we run FsOpen to increase multiplayer stability, so it will kick planes like the RealAir Duke B60 for putting a strain on the server.

Anyways I ran across this page on FS-MP where they said they have fixed the Duke B60's multiplayer issues server side: http://fs-mp.com/server/fixed.html

Does anyone know how FS-MP might of fixed this problem or if there are any other ways to make the Duke B60 more multiplayer friendly? It's such a nice aircraft with one of the best cockpit's I've seen, so it's a shame to see it go to waste.

Thanks!

the RealAir Piston duke - floods the server.. it sends out more packets in certain areas then it should.. RealAir is aware of this problem but will not fix it.. it blows my mind why companies don't care to fix there products. What FS-MP tries to do is to look for the areas where the plane is sending extra packets and then blocks this from happening.. how? don't have a clue.. but that is the just of it.

RealAir Turbo duke - that does not flood and works great in a m/p environment..

see here for a list of what floods and what does not. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/pub?key=0ApGi-6dY72QqdERSV0JhUGZtN1pDWmFOLVFLLU80X3c&gid=11

Ciao!

I do not have the Duke Piston installed on my PC, so have not seen exactly what is flooding. ( I fly the Duke Turbine, for reason that will appear obvious )

However, finding out what IS flooding, and correcting it, is not that big a task, using some tools that are on the FS-MP multiplayer server.

The process is very simple.

(1) Fly the plane on the FS-MP Multiplayer server.

(2) Ask user FSMP-HOST (me) , in the session by Radio or chatbox, to tell you what EXACTLY is flooding.

(3) Then, either correct that by editing the offending gauge XML, or patching the model. ( You can either attempt to do that yourself, if you are familiar with XML, or maybe you can convince FSMP-HOST to do it for you !!)

FYI: This is basically the process that was used to fix the similar issues that the Duke Turbine had, when first released, resulting in a Service Patch that 100% corrected all the MP issues, and made it 100% Multiplayer & Shared Cockpit compatible.

It is unfortunate that RealAir might not get around to patching the Duke, but I can see why they would not want to invest a lot of time in something they will not get paid for (after all the plane was made a few years ago when they were not aware of packet flooding). Maybe we could start a fund from all the B60 owners to offer to RealAir to make a patch  (I wonder how much would make it worth their while? I know I would pay up to $10 for a patch)

thanks for the info though! FSMP, I will definitely schedule a time to meet with you on the server via pm. Thanks, this would be much appreciated!

the new Duke V2 DOES NOT flood the server.. I just tested this today.

I can confirm that the V2 Duke does not now flood, and is on a par with the Duke Turbine and Legacy. I'd also like to thank Geoff for helping us sort this problem out. Flooding problems are not deliberately put there by developers. It is quite a specialist area where getting the right tools and fixes is very much down to the expertise of those who are involved with running M/P servers. No developer deliberately or even negligently wants to spoil enjoyment for any type of customer.

Not only does the V2 Duke not flood, I also found that shared cockpit works well. This is not the case with 1.5 and I am surprised that this cabability for V2 is not advertised.
