Landing and Take-off data monitoring

Featured Replies

Here are two tools that capture data during landing (LandingSnitch) and take-off (TOD).

You will need a registered version of FSUIPC.

Besides the obvious use in training, monitoring pilot performance and evaluating aircraft model performance, they can be very useful in calibrations needed after latest developments in FSX friction coefficients.

Data like Vapproach, pitch, rate of descent at touchdown, landing distance, ground roll (and many more) are captured without any user intervention.

The landing tool looks like this

Again, it captures a lot of data, along with takeoff distance and pitch rate at rotation.

Both tools can be found here

http://forum.simflight.com/topic/69839-atr-idlegate-and-landing-data/page__gopid__450104#entry450104

at posts 2 and 5 respectively, along with full details and instructions.

For those that will give it a try, please leave some feedback here regarding misfunctions or anything else.

Very nice, I wonder if a developer could put this to use in making a Takeoff/Landing performance calculator for various addons.

Both these tools collect data real time during approach/landing and takeoff, so you can monitor (just after) how precise/successfully were flown.

They conveniently display the data collected on your screen for immediate review.

Performance calculators is a different thing, quite tricky to be build. You can have a look here (or google for others if any)

From what I have seen so far, FSFSPro does this too (and a lot more), but it does it in the background, so you don't get all that text on screen, and it captures loads of other data too, scores you on each part, and can show you graphs over time of your performance.

I think that this is payware.

As for the text on screen, it is a matter of preference; i prefer to be able to see the report while in sim.
