blackscreen after reloading?

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I'm not sure what is causing this but either it's my GFX card driver or mainboard which I changed, my problem is that in FSX either after reloading it due to change of the sim rate, using something in the menu (alt key) or simply changing the view I get a complete blackscreen, the sim continues to work and I can still hear the sounds, however the screen stays black. This usually happens after lowering the sim rate from above 8x. Sometimes it helps to change to windows mode and then go back to fullscreen, but this doesn't work everytime and most of the times I may cancel the flight and restart the entire flight again, which of course is a lot of work.

Any Idea?

Increased sim rates put a big load on the video card. It simply could be that it is so overloaded that it crashes. Other than not running above 8x, I doubt that any of the current video cards would handle it.

You need to setup your PC and Sim in your profile to give us a clue. Without that info, it sounds like a video card overcook. Is it setup with NickN, Bojote, amd Word Not Allowed's Guides?

I do believe this issue can be fixed with the uiautomationcore.dll fix. Check the Word Not Allowed Guide for the link and explanation - http://#####.wordpress.com/fsx-software-and-hardware-guide/. If that doesn't fix it, then I would uninstall your video card drivers and reinstall them. Check your FSX.cfg and make sure the highmemfix=1 is in the Graphics section.

Best regards,

Jim
