i7 Ivy Bridge 3770K 3.9Ghz Overclocking

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

New here at AVSIM, and I have a quick question. I'm getting a new rig for FSX (i7 Ivy Bridge 3770K 3.9Ghz, GTX 670 2GB, 16GB RAM @2133Mhz, ASUS P8Z77-V Deluxe MOBO and a 2TB HDD.) and I'm wondering how much I can overclock my CPU safely with watercooling.

I'm planning on getting the Antec H20 920 watercooling system for the CPU. I'm looking to get at least 30FPS at all major airports with addon scenery and MyTraffic. Is 4.8 or 5.2Ghz doable and safe?

Thanks!

Only if you de-lid the CPU. For instructions, see the link in my signature. 4.8 is doable but 5.2 is not, unless you go with sub-zero cooling.
