Aerosoft Airbus X Extended - Extremely low fps

Recommended Posts

Hello

(Apologies if this is the wrong area to post such a thing)

I bought the Airbus X Extended yesterday, but only got round to trying it today. First impression is a promising aircraft that I would love to fly, with one major flaw. Unlike the NGX in which I get 22fps constantly (locked internally at 22) no matter where I am, the AXE likes to bring that down to 9 fps for some reason... The maximum fps I have been able to achieve with it so far is 12 fps.............

I just wanted to ask if this is a known problem that other people have too, or if its just me, because right now, I'm back with the NGX untill some sort of HOTFIX has been created:/ sorry aerosoft....

Advice appreciated

(PS I have this hotfix installed but still no joy...:( http://forum.aerosoft.com/index.php?/topic/60728-hotfix-1-released-am-211212/)

I don't own it (not planning to buy it either), but one of my friends bought it with the same results than you.

With his high end machine he can run the NGX without any problems but he gets unplayable FPS with this other addon.

@crimtye:

Try browsing to this file:

My Documents \ Flight Simulator X Files \ AerosoftAirbusExtended \ FMGC.ini

Open that file and change the entry :-

HTML_Interface=1

to

HTML_Interface=0

File, save....... then start FSX and load the Airbus Extended and see if that helps your frame rates.

(This is not my direct help, it was offered today on the 'other' Airbus thread, by a helpful user. It improved my frames quite a lot)

Thank you, it does improve the FPS quite a bit! Finally enjoying this great plane. Besides, I found the HTML FMC buggy anyway :)

Thanks again :)

Just tried this tweak, has most certainly improved FPS for me. Likewise I was running the NGX at 25-30FPS yet this was only getting around 15-22FPS. I'm not really a big fan of the external FMC. Does anyone else have issues with the lighting, for example I don't get a Beacon or Strobe lighting effect... Thanks.

Right now, with the HTML tweak, I'm getting roughly the same performance as the NGX. However, I have an extremely mediocre system, so your mileage may vary :)

Whilst where on this topic, how's it rate in terms of frame hits in comparison to the ngx?

Aerosoft have been explaining more about how the FBW system works, and it re-calculates on every frame. That is a lot of CPU activity all in addition to the rendering of the model, textures, other systems, weather, AI, etc (the usual stuff).

So although the systems are not as deep as the NGX, the overall complexity is probably as demanding on the CPU, due to the FBW.

So, for me, it is around 5-10% harder on frames than the NGX.

Not a frame rate friendly add-on, but not a hog ..... just one (like the NGX) where you have to be sensible with overall FSX settings.

I thought I heart at one time he mentioned people with Intel processors had much better fps than others.

While me, I get on average 60 fps (frames unlimited) in the AXE vs 40 fps in the NGX.

That's weird, I remember Aerosoft advertising this product as FPS friendly, all the time before the release.

That explains what I've been seeing.... The AXE and the NGX have just about the same frame rates on my system, but I can tell that the Airbus is more CPU-intensive, as the core temps run consistently about 10 degrees hotter than what I see with the NGX.

I haven't tried it yet, but in their ini's I noticed their logging option is defaulted on. (1) according to Aerosoft these are for debugging purposes, so turning them off (0) may improve frames a little more. At least it won't eat up your disk space. I'm going to try it in the morning!!

Thanks

Also check the wideviewaspect in the fsx.cfg that its set to False

For me, this has no impact on fps so I'm going to keep it at Widescreen otherwise it looks funny :S

I've not yet upgraded to this version from the original but i seem to remember that Aerosoft said that ABEX was going to be roughly the same, performance wise as some textures have been optimised etc which will make up for the increase in systems simulated. I was going to wait until next year to get this due to having too many other add-ons that occupy my time, but if its a heavier strain i may will give it a miss.

I would not expect this release to be as demanding as the NGX nevermind more so.

Happy Christmas everyone! : )

Kind Regards

Simon.
