FSDreamteam CYVR Vancouver is out!

Sort of like FSX, it has a cult following. What other software does anyone have running on their rig that is as old as FSX?

I've got my 10+ year old golf game that I still play on a regular basis. Does that qualify?

Hi everyone,

I took a quick spin after purchasing CYVR last night and I am a happy customer. One thing I noticed and wanted to ask is if anyone has any issues with the touchdown marking lights at either end of the runway. Instead of laying flat they are standing vertically almost standing as high as the aircraft tyres. To best describe the lights is If I was watching from the spot view the lights change from white to red indicating a hazard on the runway.

And a second thing is that I have a couple of really healty evergreen trees growing on the taxiway near the firestation. I did have Orbx PNW activated and did not try without but I thought that I would get my question posted before I had a chance to try without Orbx later on today.

Thanks.

This was written in the fsdt forum in regards to the lights

This, coupled with the other message by Vanzunator about the double jetways, seems to indicate both of you have a problem with your video card, it's either the driver, or it's a setting in the driver, or it's a tweak, or it's just video memory corruption.

- First try to reset your video driver settings to default. Be sure you don't use "Transparency Antialiasing" (or "Adaptive Anti-aliasing" ).

- If that doesn't work, try to update your video driver too.

- If that doesn't work, try to reset your %APPDATA%\Microsoft\FSX\FSX.CFG file, to have FSX rebuild a new one with default settings

- Be sure you have the "Advanced Animation" option enabled in FSX Graphic Settings.

- Be sure you apply the HIGHMEMFIX tweak to the FSX.CFG, you can enabled it with the Addon Manager too.

In answer to your last questionis that i had 2 towers and a taxi sign in the middle of the taxiway found out i had dulpicates coming from orbox pnw, simple fix was to remove any cyvr files that are in the orbox pnw scenery folder solved my issues with the 2 towers and the taxi sign so hopefully it might solve your trees problem as well

Sure does.

As do I, and that is significantly older than FSX. Although Perfect Parallel is looking promising, but we digress. :drinks:

Yup..same here

Can't help but feel that some self-discipline as regards scenery settings, AI traffic settings, HD textures, etc would help the prospects of FSX's future. The sliders are there for a reason.

Yes, but who really wants to reduce settings on top of the range PCs? I understand that this is seemingly unavoidable with respect to the 4GB limit, but it is rather annoying. I don't purchase high detail scenery packages to run them at NORMAL settings.

I think it's about time that I conducted extensive tests at UK2000 Heathrow Xtreme (the London area is the biggest OOM problem area in FSX for me). I am going to start at maximum Detail, Autogen, and AI settings, and see how long it takes to suffer an OOM. Then I will progressively reduce the level of detail, followed by autogen, and then AI. I suspect that the latter will make the most dramatic difference (after removing VFR London X), but I am curious to see what happens....

Don't forget to test with 8/8 cloud, wind and rain Chris!

I don't need to test with bad weather. I get plenty of OOMs when the weather is fine :(

Forgive my ignorance, but why can some intelligent individual create a patch that will fix the 4GIG limit?

I'm agree with Ben. I can't understand why devs keep trying to push FSX. FSDT airports are great but there should be a lower resolution option. The aiport does NOT look good without HQ enabled.

The same thing for KLAX. Amazing airports in an aging platform. Someone please fix this limitation.

Thanks!!!!

be good if some one could do it but if it was a easy solution it would have been done already

Yes, somebody please fix the inherent design of 32-bit applications please. Oh wait, that would be 64-bit, and unless you have access to the source code it is basically impossible to "fix" a 32-bit application to magically become a 64-bit application. Even if you have access to the code, as Lockheed Martin seems to, it's clearly not such a simple process. So just because we desire something to be true, does not make it easy, or even possible, to do.

Just for whats it worth. vancouver plus have a lot of missing library files especially around vancouver area eg CZBB. These were given through to the developer and they said it will be fixed just after the vancouver + release. See their forum for more details.

To date nothing has been patched and I do not even fly this area anymore due to all the missing library files. we all know they are HUGE contributor to CTD even though FSUIPC catch most, it can only do much. and yes 99.9% do not know there are issues because they do not have the entry in fsx,cfg file to show missing library files and think everything is OK when indeed it is NOT.

lets see if vancouver plus will ever be corrected. Maybe then I can get back to flying pitt meadows again that was my home base in FS2004.

Just get P3D. I have NEVER experienced any sort of OOM errors.. and I have virtually all payware sceneries possible in the US. I never experienced many OOM in FSX too, even.

Sarcasm? I love it! The truth is that what ever the mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve through "legal" or "illegal" means. :P

There's always X-Plane. I hope that FSDT considers this platform as an alternate.
