FSDreamteam CYVR Vancouver is out!

Featured Replies

Just wanted to come in here for a moment to give my impression. I finally had the chance to install the demo. With the RealAir Scout I started at KORS and flew to CYVR, all with OrbX scenery around me, REX, MTX and Vancouver 3+. I then started with the PMDG 737NGX (-600 Westjet) at the active runway and did some taxiing. My autogen settings are at dense, scenery complexity at very dense.Sliders such as mesh resolution, texture resolution etc are all to the right. I have about 15% AI passenger traffic, abour 30% AI traffic, 15% car traffic, and about the same for boats, but no airport vehicles.

I have pretty much the FPS I expected at this airport. Between 8 and 12 when in the PMDG 737NGX, between 10 and 12 with the RealAir Scout. I have no OOM. It's pretty much the same as I have in KLAX, and no further problems. But, I have to add that I did no flights from another big, internal airport into CYVR yet with the 737NGX, or any other jetliner for that matter. Just the two things I already mentioned. I'll buy the scenery before the end of January and do one such flight and see how I fare. So far, none of the problems people mentioned on this thread, and my computer is not very powerful:

27" iMac:

ATI 5750HD with 1GB VRAM

Resolution of 256x1440

i5 quad @ 2,79gHz

12GB DDR3 RAM

Except for the amount of RAM, there really isn't much to write home about. Still, it works as expected. So, it seems to me that people with problems should probably look closely at their settings and scenery incompatibilities, as Umberto and others pointed out. But, I will do some more testing in the course of the coming weeks... Probably KSFO - CYVR. My San Francisco area is comprised of photoscenery for the whole bay area, I have FlightBeam KSFO installed, there's the Aerosoft San Fransisco city scenery and I have some minor addons for KOAK. It's a FPS intensive place. If I can get the 737NGX from KSFO to CYVR without problems, I'll be pretty happy...

Didn't make sense to lock it anyway. A decent discussion in my opinion.

I disagreed with the lock as well. Has the 200mb fix been released yet?

Ya, I have no idea why the locked this thread, just because a few people get off topic.

I agree locking this thread was heavy handed I have found it to be very informative. I was largely unaware of the 4 gig VAS limit in FSX until this discussion came along.

Me too, I was reading it and only posted once, but it was defently bringing up a lot of stuff I didn't know.

I have been following this thread but have not contributed due to time constraints. I have also made the DX10 and have had some success. I have not been able to fully test all the scenarios. I do notice that when running CYVR+NGX+FS2Crew+ORBX+Van+ i was getting OOM's. I noticed that if I left the aircraft sit at the gate when I powered up FS2Crew I almost immediate OOM. This is now way a negative on FS2Crew. I have always used the program without issues till now. I think that I am reaching the 4 Gig VAS as has been discussed. Its a hard balance of what can I live with and what can I just not do without. I have reduced cloud textures to 512 and I have disabled ORBX because i cant live without FS2Crew.

[...]because i cant live without FS2Crew.

That's what I like to hear! :D.

I will look forward to the update, until then I will not say anything further on the performance issue :)

As soon start fscrew2 it pushes me over the limit, just have to wait till in the air and away from cyvr before i use it. Using orbox and rexe, guess i have to find a setting that i can use so able to use fscrew2 on the ground as well. If i dont use fscrew2 iam fine dont get any ooms

Well after a test last night I had FSUIPC chiming as I landed but I was able to land and get to the gate. If there is a patch coming I look forward to it.

Sorry for asking stupid things, but since some of you mention a patch. Is there some official statement on one coming? Or is it just a wish getting repeated?

Ir was in a lost posting by Umberto that some textures would be revisited, IIRC?

Yeah, he said he was going to release an update on the textures I believe, just not sure when.

PC Specs(Rebuilt 1/11/19): i7-9700K - Non-OC'd, EVGA RTX 2080ti, G.Skillz 16GB Ram 3000mhz, EVGA SuperNOVA 1000w PSU, Cooler Master ML360R, ASRock Phantom Gaming 4 MoBo, 2x 2TB HDD, 1x 1TB Samsung EVO SSD, 1x 220GB WD SSD

What I recall was that they found that they could save a couple hundred megs of ram by limiting the number of LOD's introduced. I understood that to be the focus of the patch, but perhaps my information is out of date.
