Great site for all sorts of free utilities and software

Featured Replies

I post this site when I think of it as a kind of public service. It pretty much collects the best of the free and useful software from antivirus, to malware removal to painting programs, art programs, file copiers, file rescue, defragmenters........ the works! All in one central location. Its almost a must have in your bookmarks, so give it a look!

I've used filehippo in the past and they are useful, but I'd advise keeping your antivirus up to date when using such aggregating websites, and checking downloads before running them, just to be on the safe side (never had a problem with this specific site, just saying..)

edit: Also, it's time I changed my avatar..

I have used them for years and never had the slightest problem either. For me, its just the site when you suddenly need a program for a quick project. You can search the web (through tons of scam sites) for something that might help you with whatever it is, or go to a great site like this that has tons of useful programs that can come in handy surprisingly often.

I also like that it notes openly which files are "really" free, and which are limited in some way or simply trials. Its useful enough that many malwares that I have encountered when attempting to repair other peoples machines specifically attempt to block you from reaching the site and using the useful cleaning tools there.

Also, for years I have had a regularly updated USB stick around my neck with dozens of programs from there for getting problem machines back to good health and running again (and also setting them up afterwards with useful tools) ^_^

I just thought of the place again when I saw somebody in another thread asking where he could find something to unzip a certain type of file, and I immediately thought of the place. Its the sort of situation the site is good for.
