Okay. I will fly tomorrow, but I will need to use the Carenado Bonanza A36, or their C337, or C210, or C208, or the Carenado C340, or their King Air C90T. I do not have the Baron. In that performance envelope I have the MilViz C310.

I still encourage you to fly WG's RNAV 05, or your choice of other RNAVs. If it is an issue with the Baron and RXP then it should manifest itself with other approaches.

This is the same approach in a Cessna (good glideslope):

Vaughan Martell  PP-ASEL KDTW

How many RXP430s do you have installed in that Cessna?

One 430 ... NAV2.

Do you think DTW 3R is OK for LPV?

The ILS and GARMIN GPS LPV will follow which Garmin NAV device ?

I will soon be on my way up to Detroit from Bloomington, IN and will fly the 03R RNAV and see what I find. Will also shoot an approach or two into Willow. I do not have the Baron and this will be in FSX. The Carenado panels in the Baron and Bonanza A36 are similar. The functionality of the RXP 430 should be the same. I do have an updated RXP database, mid-2011. Have you updated yours? I'll post back in a couple of hours.

More information:

During my setup testing yesterday I noticed a good RXP power on self test.

HSI, no red flag. But I still did not get the LPV glideslope during GPS approach.

Today I noticed a bad RXP power on self test.

HSI did not sync properly and I have a red flag. I still did not get the LPV glideslope.

I did 2 jpg's to show it.

In both cases, RXP WAAS flew the GPS approach .. just no glideslope.

Humm! Don't know what is causing that. I have a suggestion based on my experience with the Carenado King Air C90. On occasion the C90's Electronic Attitude Director Indicator (EADI) does not initialize. Flipping Master Avionics switch off and then back on fixes that. I never got the Bonanza to KDTW as for some reason my system unexpectedly rebooted when I was between Ft Wayne and Carleton. I then just took off in the Carenado C90 from KYIP and flew the RNAV 03R approach into Detroit. I had no issues. Photo further below.

In regard to what you showed in your most recent message check out these threads. They may lead you in the right direction. I found one doing a Google for "fsx hsi red flag" and the other on the Carenado "Updates" page. I do recall you are flying in FS9 however.

Carenado page content for the B58 for FSX..... Sounds like more than just a coincidence!

======================================

B58 FSX - Service Pack 20110503

Released May 04 2011, 1600 GMT

Modifications:

- HSI now synchronizes with the GPS.

- Holes in the ceiling (lights) are covered.

- Back navigation light added.

- Autopilot selector altitude could be turned clicking and drawing and also using the mouse wheel.

You don’t need this Service Pack if you download the aircraft after May 04, 2011 at 1600 GMT.

You do need this patch if you bought the product from any reseller.

Well,

I bet when you first power up your RealityXP Garmin Unit # 1 it "shows" the GlideSlope dots on the HSI.

Correct.

Anyway, here we are in FS9.1, RealityXP 430's and the Carenado Baron ........

Maybe someone flying will be able to confirm ... no LPV glideslope available.

In which case, we will possibly need some help from Carenado .. like the service pack you mentioned.

Vaughan Martell  PP-ASEL KDTW

You should write them. Wonder if they ported the FSX model for FS9 and then forgot about the updates they had made?

Vaughan,

Here is a link to a discussion here on Avsim relevant to you problem, but for the FSX model. You may be better off to post your issue in the Baron B58 FSX forum under The UNOFFICIAL Carenado Support Forum. There is one indication in the discussion that the GPS - HSI link was still not working for one member.

http://forum.avsim.n...8-fsx-released/

Also, consider starting a new topic in that Baron B58 FSX and use a subject header that includes Canenado, Baron B58, GPS, and HSI. The title of this topic we are currently discussing this in does not mention the Baron or B58 and that may be costing you readers and responses.

Vaughan,

Did you try adding LinkGPS=on into the rxpgns.ini file for the Baron?

Vaughan,

That is just for the flight plan (RealityXp Garmin to MSFS or other Garmin).

Best Regards,

Vaughan Martell  PP-ASEL KDTW

Well you are selecting the approach on the RXP430, which becomes part of the RXP flight plan. If you have not tried that I'd suggest you do. May or may not work, but no harm in trying. I have found it connects to various instruments in several of my aircraft.
