Angle of Attack (AoA) Announces T7 Training

Recommended Posts

I was following an interesting thread about the AoA announcement involving the upcoming T7 training. Unfortunately, it must have been lost during the great AVSIM Forum incident of January 2013. Personally, I enjoy the AoA training, but will wait a while on this one till there is actually something to buy. If I'm not mistaken, I recall Chris stating that the Groundwork for the T7 is almost done. How is that possible? Thoughts ??

I believe nothing I hear and only half of what I see. That's what I think.

Either Chris is talking about the planning stages of his training, or the T7 development is further ahead than we are being led to believe.

They did say they are ready to starting showing previews AND screenshots..

As far as I can tell... AoA doesn't need the model PMDG is developing to do the Groundwork series, do they? I don't own any of their training series, so I might be wrong. But just judging by that preview, they don't need it.

Perhaps they're producing the training, and since they are in good contact with PMDG, they know pretty much everything about what is going to be included and what isn't.

Or possibly (and this is SPECULATION)....what if PMDG is collaborating with AOA and there is an imminent release. AOA would likely be under a non-disclosure agreement, but you never know if the 777 is thisclose to being released. Again, this is just a thought.

I think that Chris from AoA said that they sometimes get a beta version to test things out. IIRC Chris also mentioned, that at the moment, they do not have a beta version of the 777.

Ron: That would be a lovely thought to have in mind! The only problem is that both Ryan and Rob said there would be loads more previews before release, both screenshots and videos.

Agreed. Since Chris from AoA said they DON'T have the 777, doesn't mean they don't lol. Since Rob said they're not saying when/if/are in beta or final testing, so of course he'd tell people to obviously not leak that kind of information.

Correct. In theory, AOA would need a head start to plan and record their training videos, etc. They won't want to wait until after the 777 is released, which would delay their training for who knows how long. Are PMDG and AOA actually in cahoots behind the scenes? Who knows?

I would assume that a lot of the ground work training can be created using real world flight crew manuals and maintenance manuals. It would not be a big deal to merge PMDG specific training when the beta is available.

I remember that i first saw this info from PMDG on Facebook stating as the 777 is just around the corner. So we just need to hear how big this corner is

I got an email yesterday from Chris at AoA. I'm a subscriber to their news list. Chris stated, "We plan on having at least one full flight (from cold and dark) ready for you on the day of release. " Now this doesn't make a lot of sense. A few days ago he said they didn't have a beta and had no idea when the T7 would be released. You may be able to get away with doing a lot of "Groundwork" without the actual aircraft, but it would be impossible to do a "full flight" without an airplane, wouldn't it?

Afterthought: Perhaps Chris meant "day of release" of the AoA training. Yeah, that would make more sense. See how we get caught up when we're impatient?

I have groundwork for the NGX and you wouldn't need access to the NGX to have written it (although it would have helped I guess) but these planes (T7 and NGX) from PMDG are so realistic, you'd only need access to the official Boeing T7 manuals/literature to put groundwork together, I reckon (which at this point, is prolly _much_ easier to come by than an alpha/beta of the T7 :Big Grin: )
