  • I think it is an attempt to make a lasting impression through annoyance. Every time I see that livery I will hear Gilbert Gottfried screaming "AFLAC!" silently. Now you will too.

Nobody bought nobody just yet. Everything is still speculation.

Should the merger go through, it will be US buying AA, not the other way around. AA will probably be the surviving brand, because they are better known around the world. That does NOT mean AA is or will be buying US, they don't have the cash to do so.

However i do like the 2012 interim i posted better as well....

Here's one of my first flights with the new livery....Its the QW757 repaint and i think it was posted pretty fast after the intro of the 2013 livery.....i have also downloaded a Posky 738 that i have yet to fly which is also in the 2013 AAL livery.

Where did you get the download for the new AA 737 from?

It will end up being majority AA owned.

AA shareholders/investors/creditors will own 70% of the combined ops. Plus, AA is rumoured to be sitting on $4billion in cash........

On topic: I don't mind the new livery. It's bold, and, thanks to the tail, stands out from the rest of the Eurowhite croud. They could've looked outside the (MS Word art) box for the font though.......

And here I was thinking that the font was the most attractive part of the package.

Maybe they should have used Comic Sans: American or AMERICAN. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Right now what is publicly known is that US Airways wants to buy American in bankruptcy. American wanted to be a stand alone airline but the unsecured creditors committee and other "money guys" want a merger. Sometime last summer AA management gave in and exchanged non disclosure agreements with US Airways and have been in merger talks ever since. No official merger has been announced. As far as cash goes the last numbers I saw published AA had over $6 billion. US Airways' Doug Parker already said if he gets this merger he will keep the American Airlines name and will move into the current American Airlines headquarters.

My personal feeling is that we will merge with US Airways. Our unions and companies are already meeting and coming to agreements on proposals for a combined pilots contract. For all we know this new paint job could be what the two companies have agreed upon for the merger. The big question would be is US Airways going to buy us, will we buy them or will there be some kind of mutual agreement between the two airlines. We will all find out soon enough.

It has the opposite effect on me than those who like it the more they see it. Everytime I see it I think about a whole concourse full of those colors, and how it's gonna look like the circus bought an airline.

Well working here it feels like a circus already so I guess the new livery is appropriate.

At first I thought it looked like a garment you'd get from the Sarah Palin collection at Walmart, but after painting it and flying it for a while, it is growing on me.

After walking up to it at ORD yesterday I like it a bit more, the livery looks a lot better in person.

well we find out what happins on tuesday i think i just hop all my friends at aa and us airways keep there jobs. i saw a pic of a e170 in aa paint and that got me exited because i am getting tired of the CRJ 200 LRs and ERS that sky west is flying for Piedmont. they are old and dirty airplanes. its time to get new planes. so the EMB170 or EMB175 witch will it be american eagle? chad hittenberger duchman

Let's see, mediocre service, labor disputes, inept management, and bankruptcy. Gee-whiz... a new coat of paint ought to fix everything.

Amen. Never knew anyone who enjoyed their AA Experience.

I feel like they're trying to make it a lot like BA's - but an American version..

They must get a new livery even if they did not order any plastic planes.

If they have turned a corner like they say they have then they need to shake that stigma you describe.

They already fired or helped Gerard Arpey retire (depending on the source you hear it from). New coat of paint is a logical step, even though some say its an American icon. No pun intended.
