Made some progress on the 737

Recommended Posts

Well after a move and a lot of time off I am back on the 737 build.

Had to give up space in the basement for our home theater, so I'm stuck out in the gargage. That killed going back to my three projector visuals, so I settled on three 60" Plasma's for now. Finally got one mounted for test flights this week.

Next up is the overhead.

Someone sure looks excited in the second image! I would be too if I had everyday access to a project of such scope!

What is the brand of that yoke?

Thanks.

It's an ACE yoke. 737yoke.com

Takes forever, but worth the wait!

You're welcome.

I wish I could afford such a yoke. CH and Saitek yokes can not compare to PFC yokes. PFC yokes can not compare to ACE yokes, at least visually, but even the latter can not compare to Revolution Sim motorized yokes . . . what an expensive hobby we indulge in!

Good luck with your project!

Was a guy selling one on Ebay, went for 600 bucks, but he had zero history and it was out of Poland so I was really leary, but I got my eye on one of those Yokes or some modified PVC/ Potentiometer combo. My wife would never go for loosing her parking spot. I envy you.

Looks absolutely spectacular.

How I would love to collaborate with someone on a couple cockpits. Metal is my strong point ;)

In some of the latest images, it appears that the displays are substituting the projectors quite decently.

Do you know what the surface material is for the PFD, ND, and EICAS of the real B737? When I visited the cockpit of a B777, I was surprised to find that the flight displays were of a very fuzzy matte material, much different from the glossy, high-contrast, sharp displays I am used to "seeing" in FSX.

Cheaper, easier, works well for smaller spaces.

Panasonic 60" plasma's were $764

No need for warping software

Runs the full 5760 x 1080

Older i7-920, 12GB, dual GTX285s. Moving to a GTX680 on Friday and likely to an new i5 ivy bridge later next month.

Will save this Machine and another I have to run three views of Xplane X later.

Also thinking of adding another two screens later for full wrap around.

I don't know. My 16 years at Boeing were on the military side of the house.

Amazing, when your 100% done you should mount a go pro camera and shoot a few vids from the cockpit.

Very nice! I'm planning on doing the same. How did you construct/design the shell?

Bought it. That's the old flightdeck solutions wooden shell before they switched to their aluminum design.

Very nice project.

There are less-elaborate solutions that mimic the physical layout of the cockpit, but occupy less space. Personally, they are still slightly too expensive for me.

Yea, they have the Jetmax solution that mimics just the capt side, it's in the $6k range..
