Screen turns black after returning from the menus, etc

Recommended Posts

I been having issues ever since with my screen turning completely black after returning from the menus. For example, I'll enter the settings, or change aircraft, or anything from the menus and upon returning back to the game, the screen will be either:

1) all black (game still runs, I can hear the sound of the plane and I'm able to hear clicking when pressing the mouse and I'm still able to use my keyboard shortcut that I assign to quit the game.

2) screen will come back, but it will look very strange. sometimes the cockpit panel is missing and I'll see clouds only, or other weird graphical anomolies.

This happens randomly. Sometime its fine and other time its not. I'm able to fix the problem sometimes by entering window and returning back to fullscreen. This resolves the graphical issues, but it doesn't always work. Not sure what the cause of this is. I've already replaced that uiautomation.dll with the vista version and that fixed the random CTD issues. But I'm still having this problem that I'm trying to fix. Do any of you here have similar problems.

I'm running this on Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, with 16GB Ram.

Do you have ENB installled? Just a hunch, but it gave me fits several months back with many of the same issues you're having now and after uninstalling it, everything magically cleared up. I also had uiautomation.dll in the FSX directory at the time to and tried to retrace my steps of what I had changed install wise and ENB was it.

No sorry for not mentioning what add-ons I'm running. I'm using FSPassengers, AES, PMDG planes, Aerosoft airplanes and airports, FlyTampa airports, EZDok Camera, Ultimate Traffic 2.

Use the alt and enter usually brings it back to life again, dont use the tab and enter this usally causes black screens as well.

Look up the uiautomationcore.dll issue, this sounds like it might be that. The short fix to try is to download the Windows Vista version of the file and copy it into your FSX root directory

I have already done the uiautomationcore.dll. And I've always used alt+enter to switch from full screen to window and vice versa, still doesn't fix this issue.

Ok sorry didnt read your first post that u already tried using the uiautomationcore.dll, have you tried using another version since read some where that some dont work and others do

Another thought it may not work is that have you got the highmenfix=1 in your fsx.cfg settins at all

I know your problem doesn't relate to ENB plugin . But i had this issue before . Only using ENB i always thought something else might be triggering this problem. You might want to take a look at my solution to this problem .Maybe it will help

the highmenfix=1 is for the issues of users that have missing aircraft panels etc
