Freeware weather addon?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

After having trouble with the real world weather in fs9, giving me a weather.dll error whenever using it i've come to look for a freeware weather addon that would do that same as the fs9 real world weather, something that would possibly update every 15 minutes.

I've looked at Active Sky, but unfortunately don't have the money to spend on an addon at the moment.

If anyone has an idea what i could use i would very much appriciate it!

Metar weather program...free ,available here in the file library under utilities.

Good or not? not sure.

As an alternative there is another free file that adds a whole mass of extra weather themes to the defaults available in FS9.

Yep, I second Luis's suggestion. I used it before I got ASE, pretty efficient.

I've also heard of something called "fsmetar" but I never could get it to work.

Hi,

Can someone explain to me how to use "FSrealWX"?  I'm looking for a sequence, e.g., 1) start FS2004; ; 2) start FSrealWX: (or vice-versa) Or do I simply start FSrealWX and let it run in the background?

Thanks.

John

Hi John,

I use to start at first FS2004, then FSRealWX. I recommend setting FSRealWX loading wheather at startup: Menu "FSRealWX" -> "Options", check "Download WX". (Wait a little after startup until you see the actual wheather as the program will have to send a lot of wheather station data to FS2004). I also have checked "Close when disconnected".

While I can load MS real wheather without CTD, it is now approximately one week behind the time. Maybe this is Microsofts gratulation to 10 years of FS2004...
