I have a AI repaint for the 737-800 with this paint. Having a few of them on the ramp (KMIA) I must say this livery looks like crap next to AA's older paint. You can sorta see what I mean in screenshot 5 and 8 above. Usually when a livery grows on you you don't have a relapse seeing a few of them side by side and next to the paint it'll replace.

That's weird, because I was just thinking the opposite. The old livery looks dated somehow, while the new livery looks modern.

The tail is still a bit in-your-face though.

That's just it, it's the tail that looks like crap on the ramp when you have more than one of them present side by side. It looks stupid next to the older AA repaint.

Hm. Actually, I think what was making it look modern in those shots was a trick of the lighting. That plane isn't white.

Actually two different paint jobs, Steve's is darker then Chris's and the DFW & JFK departures were in the early morning and late afternoon.

Though I dislike the new tail design, the gradient and shine effects of these repaints make such a bland pattern look about as good as it can. Perhaps even more impressive are the nicely colored ground textures.

Ah, thanks. The lighter colored one does look considerably better, and the tail stands out a lot less.

A quick note, Chris's remake (available 1/31 here in the library) is now closer to Steve's repaint (a bit darker).

Ditto. Exactly what I was thinking.
