August 22, 200421 yr I think that the fundamental problem with getting an impression of scale is that no matter what, you are viewing this 'virtual' world through the small window of your monitor, and regardless of how close you try to set the viewpoint, it'll always look small. Now if we were using huge, wrap-around widescreen monitors, then the sense of scale would become much greater, as the FS aircraft would be able to tower above you in a more realistic way... ;)In the real world, yes, stand under a B52 and it seems to go on for ever, and looms so far overhead that you have to crane your neck to see the tip of the tail! Naturaly, in the FS world you cannot do that and so you don't have that kind of perception that there is a vast behemoth of a plane hulking over your head....Shame! Anyone using a projector with a 100inch screen hooked upto their PC would probably be more able to 'feel' the sense of scale though......anyone? Lucky sods!! :)
