How to get ILS Clearance to an added frequency in FSX

Featured Replies

A friend added an ILS frequency on the AFCAD for a particular airport. I'm not going to take the credits for adding the ILS frequencies to the airport. We are trying to solve a little issue when we load and perform an IFR flight to this airport, (which originally didn't have ILS on approach to either runway), we only get Visual approaches to both runways from ATC???

What have we missed, or have to do, to make FSX give us an ILS clearance on approach?

Hope for a reply soon...

You also have to add the approach for ai traffic. Instructions on the ADEX (afcad) forums.

Note that ADEX is setup based on the idea that you load a stock airport and then make changes to it. If you add a new ILS it will create a pro-forma ILS approach for you (you can edit that if you have the chart and want to match it). If instead you import an airport from an "AFCAD" you might be missing some of the stock data, including the stock approaches. ADEX has a menu for loading stock data. You should make sure you have all the stock approaches in your ADEX airport project file and then start doing your mods and additions. You do this by going into "approach" mode and verifying if any/all approaches are shown on the approaches list. It could be that a 3rd party "AFCAD" has also included all needed approaches, so check this before you import the stock ones.

Thanks.

I have been trying to help Berlopez with adding an ILS approach to SKSP. The ILS works fine but when he is on an ILS flightplan ATC only gives him a visual approach. I have added approaches with ADE. I tried attaching the bgl and a screenshot of the approaches in ADE but it would not let me upload them. What do we need to do so that ATC will give him an ILS approach rather than a visual approach. Thanks, Bob.

I have noticed this same problem with the payware FSX Alphasim CFB Cold Lake scenery. Alphasim added an ILS approach, but ATC always directs me to a visual approach only.

Hi Bob I was just going to post a link but I see you made a post in the ADEX forums... someone should be able to help you there. I'm not a pro at all with that stuff.

Is the weather IMC?

ATC will offer a visual approach if the weather is good enough.
