Autogen not loading

Recommended Posts

Hi, I have managed to optimize my FSX.cfg and to have quite acceptable frame rates with the NGX, but I have the problem that, when I fly over cities populated with autogen buidings, if it is cloudy and my speed is above 180 knots, I have a big delay in autogen loading, so that when I overfly the area only the ground textures and the custom buildings load and I see no autogen at all.

Is there any particular parameter I should look into in order to get an improvement? I have autogen set to medium/dense and ActiveSky 2012 clouds, no UTX/GEX.

Thanks.

OK, what optimization to fsx.cfg have you performed?

Have you set FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION to anything? (ie away from its default setting of 0.33, which it has if the setting is not made explicitly in the fsx.cfg...)

Do you use an affinity mask for your i7-920? (You might want to look into overclocking a little higher than 3.6GHz if your cooling solution allows it...)

This is an automatic message.

Well, I don't agree so much with moving the message to the general forum. The problem I have is present with the 737 NGX, due to its complexity, so I just wanted to check if the other NGX users have it like me or not and what to be done in order to fix it, but with the NGX, it's no use that I get a reply from a user that flies a Cessna... No problem anyway :-)

According to some the FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION tweak can cause autogen loss like yours. Go into your fsx.CFG and try changing it to 0.15 or 0.10.

Arjen, perhaps I have misunderstood the parameter, but I thought that if it is reduced to below its default value of 0.33, the textures take a little longer to load, but as a payoff, you have an improved frame rate...

I find that the texture loads are slower with FFTF at 0.15... I use this setting, mind, as I find I get an overall improvement in general performance and smoothness as a result...

I remember having the FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION parameter in the FSX.cfg but now it's no longer there. Thus I suppose it is the default value of 0.33. What is the best value in order to have faster autogen loading? Will that optimal value reduce the frame rate?

Perhaps this link will help. It explains what each tweak does - http://pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Microsoft_Flight_Simulator_X.

FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION is a setting that can be tweaked in conjunction with TEXTURE_BANDWIDTH_MULT (usually as a "see-saw"). Do you have TBM in your fsx.cfg?
